    Ammeter Fuse size?

Maybe I didn't explain it clear enough.. Do not relocate the point where both the black wires connect to the main power wire. repair them as good as possible, keeping their lengths as near stock as possible, but maintain the same connection points for the black wires. A shunt works off a certain...

    Ammeter Fuse size?

Both ammeter wires will check "hot" because they both lead back to the main power distribution wire, although the points where they connect are several feet apart on that wire. There may be a formula for calculating all the dimensions of the wires but I don't know that formula... One of those...

    Ammeter Fuse size?

The ammeter circuit is a 2 part parallel circuit, called a shut.. One part is a calculated length of the main power distribution wire.. The other part is also calculated length and made up of two small gauge (I think 18 ga.) wires, one going to the ammeter, and the other coming from it. That...

    Is this a correct bracket?

I sold my Square Body a few years ago, so I don't post much anymore, but I lurk a lot.. Travlr, the solution is very easy.. GM P/S pumps of this era are all exactly the same, only the reservoirs are different.. Remove the pressure regulator/hose fitting from the rear of the pump. Remove the...

Fuel pump pushrod won’t slide into block

You may have the wrong pump rod.. Chevrolet SBC and BBC are interchangeable.. Rod should be .500 (1/2 inch) diameter, 5.75 (5 3/4 inch) long.. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/crt-pr-1

    V belts for my Chevy C10 1974

Belts very seldom stretch very much before they break (gain length).. They wear mostly on the sides causing them to sit deeper in the pulley and just appear to be longer. Here is a measuring method that, in your case, might work better than a string.. You say the "generator" belt broke? do you...

    V belts for my Chevy C10 1974

Hey man, no apology needed.. You didn't bother me in the least and if I came across otherwise, I'm the one needing to apologize.. What we have to remember as we help the OP with his belts is that Denmark uses the metric system to measure things.. So when we tell him to get a Gates (or Dayton)...

    V belts for my Chevy C10 1974

This reply is in response to your having quoted me, but it's directed to the OP of this thread. I'm a retired automobile mechanic having worked in the field for over 30 years, so you're preaching to the choir.. Over the years, I've fitted more belts than can be counted to more vehicles than can...

    V belts for my Chevy C10 1974

Those numbers I quoted, both length and width came from Gates sleeve for those 3 belts.. To respond to your comment... I didn't measure any of them, and don't intend to do so.. I'm just quoting what Gates prints on their belt sleeves....

    V belts for my Chevy C10 1974

That "formula" won't work for Gates belts.. I have 3 Gates belts in my hand.. 7405 is 41 1/8" long.. 7335 is 34 1/8" long... 7305 is 31 1/4" long.. Last 2 numbers aren't even close to the length.. In years past, "8" as the first number denoted 13/32" wide and "7" as the first number meant 3/8"...

Getting ready to crank a motor what is not in my check list/ motors running now newb questions

Sorry, I'm a little late to the party.. Cranking the engine before changing the oil is a bad idea.. Change the oil and filter FIRST to remove any contaminants.. Remove the distributor and as others have said, prime the oiling system. then proceed with the start up ritual...

    Front End Alignment???

"Dimension A" is a reference to ride height.. The lower your truck sits, the shorter this dimension. The higher it sits, the longer the dimension. In some cases with lowered trucks, camber is a compromise as there isn't enough adjustment range to obtain the specified setting... Camber varies as...

    Torches

Typical UPS and other shipping agents.. Drive up , toss package over fence, and drive away.. Never mind even if it's the incorrect address.. "Get the package off the damn truck" seems to be their motto.. Glad you got the torch fixed..

You missed it 2 years.. '59 was the first year for "straight across" bolts.. Had to do with intake port size and spacing.. Some "late" '58s had the bolt relocation..

I'm not a moderator, so don't take this as me "scolding" you.. Being as you're new here, you may not understand how things go around here.. Please don't start multiple threads concerning the same problem.. It makes it hard for others to follow along.. Go to your introduction thread for my...

    electrical problems

None of the fuse links serve ONLY the clock and courtesy lights. IF you have a blown fuse link, a power loss will involve more than just those 2 items.. The clock and courtesy lights are on the same fuse, but they don't share the same ground. Well, actually they do, but not in the way you'd...
