    Secondary metering rod size?

Naaa. bullets are too expensive for a job like that.. A large piece of pipe, a hammer, or even a big piece of concrete does just fine... lol

    Secondary metering rod size?

A little trivia about that carburetor.. You do know it's a copy of a 1950s design?? the Carter AFB was a failure and so is it.. They would flood and set the engine compartment on fire.. Had one choke setting for cold weather, one for hot.. and still a 3rd for rainy season.. The sumbitch demanded...

I see you work on Eddy carbs.. Sittin' over there by the wall is THE #1 TOOL of choice for making modifications to them.. One side is used for reducing float weight and the other end is for grinding notches in the throttle butterflys.. I don't see the hammer used for fixing the choke???

Naaaa. they ain't that big.. Honky's running that on a BBC.. I ran that carb and it's bigger brother the 850 on my race prepped SBCs... I had an 800 cfm on a 8,000 rpm 301 SBC.. The added power more than makes up for the weak front springs.. :driver::boobs: :driver:

Good possibility.. but then anything's possible.. That carburetor's probably over 35 years old.. Good cores are rare so the rebuilder could have sourced anything just to turn a buck.. Back in the day, I never liked installing commercially rebuilt carburetors, I rebuilt the one on the car myself...

The kit in the picture is for an "ME" carburetor, equipped with a computer controlled duty cycle solenoid controlling fuel mixture. Surely today's kits aren't that universal in applications. I don't remember any GM truck having CCC systems in '85, but if you have that carburetor on your truck...

    Secondary metering rod size?

Yes... It's a permanent part of the plunger/piston.. It's non-serviceable, doesn't come in the kit.. The only way to remove/replace is to separate the rod hanger from the piston and that's an unequivocal NO-NO.. You don't ever want to "tinker" with the hanger in any way.. Back in my day (I've...

    Secondary metering rod size?

the plastic piece serves a dual purpose.. It holds the plunger in place and it is also a stop that prevents the plunger from rising too high.. Since the metering rods are tapered, the higher they rise, the more of the jet orifice is exposed to fuel.. It allows more fuel to flow. If the power...

    Secondary metering rod size?

In all your explanations, you've not mentioned the accelerator pump operation.. When addressing a hesitation, it's the quickest and easiest to check.. Doesn't even require the first tool -- eyes and hands only.. You may have the wrong plunger or it's worn or damaged.. Without seeing it, I can't...

I'm talking STOCK low performance engines such as LT9s here. Some of what I'm about to say doesn't apply to all engines.. Headers don't magically convert a 160 Hp engine into a high output one.. Mid 80s SBC especially the truck engines were bad about cams going flat.. Have you mounted a dial...
