    Choke plate not closing.

The spring can be damaged from excessive twisting of the cover.. Reinstall it and go through the adjustment procedure in the video @Dougnsalem posted for you.. Pay particular attention to the part about indexing the choke housing and the cover.. When the choke is fully closed, if the index...

What new tools have you got lately?

Klien makes some damn good electrician's tools.. I've got a pair of diags that came in a small box of tools I bought at a pawn shop.. Must have been over 40 years ago, and the diags were old then.. Still work good... Thanks for the memory jog.. My next strippers will be Klien...

    Choke plate not closing.

Me thinks you just want to argue with me, or you're trying to compare apples to oranges.. I never mentioned a DVM. Step away from your key board, and check the thing with a test light.. It will not light up.. A DVM of high impedance will indicate voltage because what little current is avaliable...

    Choke plate not closing.

No need to choke on your words..:slap: lol.. I didn't want to muddy the waters for the novice mechanic.. If the voltage needs to be measured, then yes by all means use a volt meter of some sort.. But as I stated, a test light works just fine when checking for the presence of voltage..

Stay Away From thepartsmonster On eBay or anywhere

That's all well and good, but with the crappy quality of today's Chinese parts, the expense and hassle of returning just isn't worth it to me.. When I leave the parts house with my parts, I'm pretty much assured the parts will fit.. Not only that, I'd rather keep the money flowing within my...

    Choke plate not closing.

Our trucks didn't come from the factory equipped with Holley carburetors.. The factory 4 barrel carburetors were QJets.. Although the adjustment procedures for both are very, very similar, the main difference is as I stated in an earlier post concerning voltage supply for the electric choke...

    Choke plate not closing.

With all due respect Reaper, This not how the choke works.. Inside the black plastic housing is a temperature sensitive bi-metal coil spring.. One end of the spring is stationary and the other end is attached to a lever. A rod connects this lever to an arm on the choke blade.. Cold ambient...

    Choke plate not closing.

This is not exactly correct.. Voltage appears at the choke ONLY when the engine is running.. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" and the choke light should come on.. Start the engine and the light goes out.. Some where on the engine, is an oil pressure sensor switch (not to be confused with the...

OK... Gotcha.. You were wrong on purpose... lol.. He's a pretty good kid and his nose isn't snotty..lol.. Kinda like the kid that once worked for me.. Everybody poked fun at him, and occasionally he poked back.. The whole shop had his back.. Nobody else was allowed to razz him...

    Torches

If I may, I'd like to impart some wisdom and experience upon you. And also scare the hell out of you. If you don't know what you're doing, and it's readily apparent you don't, leave torch and regulator repairs to the pros.. Leaky and improperly repaired torches and regulators can and will...

I quit dealing with/on eBay before this century was born.. The ordeal also soured me for online purchases in general.. 99% of the time, if I can't find it locally, or at least within travel distance, I do without.

What new tools have you got lately?

I bought that same stripper from Lowes to use for my shop wiring job.. Started slipping after about 50 - 75 "strips".. Lowes exchanged them for me.. Second tool started slipping after about the same amount of usage.. I contacted Vice-Grip and talked to them about the problem.. Told me they were...

    78 cruise control question

To give bigten a more detailed answer while ignoring his tire size question.. Beyond that range, the drive gear tooth count has to be changed.. But that may not...

    Secondary metering rod size?

If you (by whatever means) destroy your truck, it's gone forever, and that's a bad thing.. Why deprive someone the opportunity to bring it back to life..
