    Friction modifier?

The sawdust and banana "trick" has been around decades.. It's something used car lots did to quiet howling rearends. The theory is the sawdust particles and banana fibers form a cushion between the gears.. It sometimes works but most time it doesn't.. At best, it's a short term fix but not...

    2 cluster questions

Fiber optic is a material that will transport light, much like a pipe transports water.. The dash light shines in the end of that fiber optic and shines out the other end.. If you place the other end of the fiber optic in the ash tray housing like bucket said, the light coming out the end of the...

A Tale of Man & a Square dream

:welcome:Jerrie [did I spell it correctly?] You and I aren't too far apart.. I'm on highway 287 in Elkhart, 10 miles south of Palestine.. Driving distance around 100 miles from Mesquite.. I bought my most recent square body from a guy over in the Ft Worth area.. I grew up in the era before the...

    Choke plate not closing.

Yep.... Over the years, the venerable ol' Q-jet went through (endured??) numerous changes.. "Heated by exhaust gases" hot air choke - a sort of controlled vacuum leak.. A divorced choke, electric choke, and probably some I've left out.. On the big trucks, even a manual "pull the knob" choke...

    Vibration at 65

For an engineer, you sure have a lot of trouble keeping your truck up and running.. You had to seek help with a simple transmission leak.. Let's not even go into the wheel issues. And now this?? Did the truck have this vibration before you phukked with the transmission.. If it didn't, have you...

    75 454 Holley issues

Actually, I think it was Ford's attempt at lowering the CAFE numbers of their gas guzzlers.. Those big old 390 equipped yard barges could not stay away from the gas pumps...

    75 454 Holley issues

I don't think any other mfgr. except Ford had them.. The only cars I remember seeing them on were Lincolns and those fat ass 4 passenger T-Birds. Possibly others, I just don't remember. It was really difficult to swap one for a "conventional" carburetor because of all the peripheral stuff...

    75 454 Holley issues

Nothing compares to Ford's variable venturi carb.. That thing gave a whole new meaning to the term "a piece of shit".. I think Ford new what they had before it made it to production.. The carb was discontinued only after a couple years or so..

    75 454 Holley issues

A true original Carter AFB is very, very old.. I'm surprised there's one out there that still works.. So the plugs where taken out when the Holley was still on the engine... OK, thanks for clearing that up for me..

    75 454 Holley issues

I'm confused.. You're showing us pictures of the plugs in the engine. If the carburetor that's on it now is flooding, why are we talking about a Holley power valve being the problem???

Usta be a tool made just for that. Night check the Lyle rack at the parts store. Two piece thingie.. Loose Sockets

Correct on the plug with the green wires, low pressure cut off switch for AC compressor. Concerning the other plug.. It's possible that weather, heat, and age have altered the color of those wires, so I'm not positive on the following.. It's possible that's the plug for the normally open oil...

Sorry for the late reply.. Yes it does.. My door panels, headliner, and kick panels are all original and still somewhat nice.. Can't say that for the driver's seat area... BTW... I saw your post about the missing horn button... There's a U-Pull-It near me.. Has lots of square bodies sittin'...
