80 C10 "Nemo" Build - Started as: Front frame buckled…

Everybody thought I was off my rocker suggesting the bad axx frame for $20K... This truck would be amazing on the custom frame... I'd custom roller that sweetie in a heartbeat... Be the nicest junk hauler in my neighborhood, for sure! This is probably over-cool (Corvette front/rear with a...

After market seatbelts are expensive... looking for other ideas

Cool. Please do not install modern activated belts and think they will work without the computer control system and the activation mechanisms. They won't. You'll get hurt. Bad idea... NONO

After market seatbelts are expensive... looking for other ideas

That's right. 5 years. Just like tires. This is why the longest manufaturure's warranty on a US vehicle is 5 years. That, is technically the life of your vehicle. After that your rig was supposed to go into old number 5 and become a battleship. (#5 is the gigantic steel forge in Ohio). Provided...

After market seatbelts are expensive... looking for other ideas

It's complicated. I may not be more intelligent than you... but I'll try to answer as best I can. The firing system is powder active and is very dangerous in modern seat belts. Many older trucks, which have been in accidents, have had the firing igniter's triggered. The really old trucks, don't...

    Transmission Swap Mishaps

The GM 205 is divorsed... the case cover is different than the Ford or the Dodge which is NOT divorsed. My 208 had the auto locks and they are available for anyone who needs them as good known to be working cores. Shifting into low and getting stuck is usually from the plastic shifter fork tabs...

80 C10 "Nemo" Build - Started as: Front frame buckled…

It's got at least another 2 season's of the Duke's of Hazzard left in her! If you flip it on to the roof a few times, it might straighten it out. I typed this smart axx remark and missed all the recent posts... You burned all of us with the 1985 picture! If it was an 85' there would have been...

80 C10 "Nemo" Build - Started as: Front frame buckled…

That's my point. You'll feel great driving while your tires get eaten up or find out the hard way when somebody cuts you off and the steering breaks loose. Caster can be deadly at high speeds. Unless you're a Hurricane Hell Driver and can stay in control on 2 same side wheels... at a 30 degree...

80 C10 "Nemo" Build - Started as: Front frame buckled…

Yah ^^^ what he said. You are likely going to have to pay to have it straightened or find a donor frame with a clean title. Good luck. You might be able to square it up by pulling the engine, cutting the cross member out and installing an ORD cross member. I would call them and ask about the...

Some squares for sale in my area.

If the bed was blasted and painted, it would be worth the $2K, without the truck.

What new tools have you got lately?

The load at RPM and the torque variation under stress, is no where near what a screw gun, drill or ratchet gun is designed to do. High RPM dogs the batteries. = Fail. If you are shaping glass or guitar bodies, I can definitely see how it's handy. Or like you mentioned, the occasional rusty bolt...

What new tools have you got lately?

We had a guy use the very expensive 18V Milwaukee grinder, with the blue overlap sanding disks for simply re-sharpening the New Holland Swathe cutter blades and it did not last a month before it burned up. Do yourself a favor and stick with power corded grinders. Run a cocktail of 90 weight...

What new tools have you got lately?

This is new: Cutting the filters on the tractors and truck engines is worth the effort, in the long run. This comes put together backwards. Had to pull the bolts on the cutter wheels and the screw block and reverse them end to end. 10 minutes and fixed. All the bad reviews are from people too...

Old, retired guy new to this group.

Seen a 66lb catfish in the trunk of a Montecarlo one afternoon. After the guy who caught it drove around town showing it off, it shrunk 5 lbs and he lost the world record catfish! Long Live the Catfish!

Locking Hub Body Won't Seal To Hub

I used silicone o-rings on my MM locking hubs. They have never leaked. Bought a hundred 75mm x 2mm. Grease them up well and they fit the MM hubs perfect without fail. (The Self Locking OEM units I pulled from my stock GM 10-bolts, are available for anyone rebuilding a factory restoration truck.)...

    Gave away my LS

I have to agree. If you match what you pulled apart by de-greeing everything as close as possible, the rotational mass should only vary by a few grams at the most. I'm convinced it's not rocket science, just good basic set up and detailed balancing. From what I've read, the wheels off the...

    Headlights and blinker problems. Again!!

I rewired with four 3-wire lamps. I used two 40A relays and 12ga wire for the lights and 14ga for the ground circuit, in a custom made harness. I bought the ceramic connectors with the heavier gauge wires, since some came with sub standard wires. This 87 had a pair of lights with 2 poles and a...

    Blue Print or GM Performance

My truck came with a Marine 5.7L with Forged Pistons and the GM performance Crank. I used the EDL-7116 dual plane intake, a 1" tall Chaos split 2" diameter holes' TBI adapter (and the stock 5.7L TBI, for now). The adaptor allows for the upgraded larger bored TBI and a tune/chip or the Holley...

700R4 Governor Malfunction/Replacement and Custom Pressure Gauge Installation...

Well, the NAPA is $123.00 shipped... Had a 300psi gauge and figured others might also... ...and the brake line is rated to 1200PSI over the cheap rubber hose they give you with crimped brass ends, (which would not be as good as a stainless line for permanent install. The parts I listed comes...
