New crate engine oil priming/ ignition timing impact if the distributor is mis-installed

What he said ^^^^^^ With 2 important warnings: Buy a quality bump switch from somebody like OTC, with properly insulated clips that stay on and a UL rated 12v switch with THICK WIRES. The amp load on a cheap switch can burn up on first use with cheapo bump tools. This works without starting a...

    Need Wiring picture.

It does not have to be factory spec to get good points for a clean resto-mod. If your ground strap or loom mounts to the 3/8" short bolt to the back of the head, remove it once, bleed while doing so and NEVER EVER mount anything there again. (Unless you enjoy bleeding to get it out again and...

    Need Wiring picture.

There is supposed to be plastic loops that stick into the firewall to hold your wiring around the back of the engine. LMC might sell them. Does your wiring look like this mess? It's an 86', so it's not complicated. Make certain your distributor connectors are not broken and replace pigtails...

New crate engine oil priming/ ignition timing impact if the distributor is mis-installed

On the 87' Blazer, the distributor is so close to the firewall, inserting a long handle screw driver is nearly impossible to locate the drive shaft for the oil pump. When you use the tool, the locating ring aligns the shaft, so it drops at the correct angle, directly over the drive notch. I use...

Nick +1 I own a custom built non-lockup 700R4. Read my sig slogan, at the bottom of my post carefully... Removing the electronics and installing a non-lockup Transgo kit, IS NOT THE SAME as unplugging the connector and running without a lockup, on a locking converter. You also remove the...

Y-Pipe and a Cat: The O2 has been removed. The rear section is near mint condition and available. I can box it using large boxes, but it could be cut and welded to make it easier. The tail pipe and the last bend make it tough to ship affordably. Let me know if you want the rear section ASAP...

454 vortec heads: which gaskets to use

There are a lot of people selling aluminum, "who" do not want you to buy cast iron. Period. Block question

I would suggest, without expert knowledge, this is casting flash which needs to be cleared from the opening. Use a Dremel or a round file or better yet a carbide end mill and clean that mess up. Mark IV 454 Engine Build
