    Pissing match

Awesome story!!! The cherries and berries must've been one hell of a surprise. I like blasting inconsiderate oncoming traffic too. I remember a pickup high beamed me back last fall, and he didn't have any overpowered LED lights. His lights were just blinding. As he passed I saw his trailer...

What would cause fouling on just half of the spark plug?

Don't use those little rubber things. Like @SirRobyn0 said, throw them away. Follow his directions using "The Right Stuff" on the china wall and around the coolant passages on the ends.

What would cause fouling on just half of the spark plug?

Intake gasket is one good culprit. OP said he verified the timing to be 12°, so that shouldn't be it. The compression test will tell if the rings are bad. I agree that this should be the next step. If the compression test checks out, I'd be it's the intake gasket. A quart of oil in 100...

    New 1974 C10 From Michigan

Welcome! And that's a very beautiful truck. What's hiding beneath that collection of car covers?

85 C10 No headlights or cluster lights

Yes, your truck should be charging at idle. It should be 13 or 14 volts, whether at idle or highway speed. It sounds like you have two bad alternators. Probably bad internal voltage regulators.

    Let’s talk about headliners

Thanks for the info. I looked at RockAuto, and I now see what you're talking about. I don't think the headliner I got from my friend's truck had those round cut outs, but maybe I'm just not remembering them. At least I understand the difference in the aftermarket headliners now. Thank you!

    Dual tank upgrade

The vapor canister is typically mounted on the driver's side of the engine compartment. In front of the wheel well and behind the core support.

    Let’s talk about headliners

Thanks for the clarification. I snagged the interior trim along with the headliner, so I should be set after drilling a few holes. Now I'm just curious why LCM would offer headliners for trucks that "did not have an original headliner", as @Rudy Mienert astutely pointed out.

85 C10 No headlights or cluster lights

Maybe you lost or broke a ground from the engine to the firewall??? Could've got bumped while changing plugs. I don't know how cutting out the cargo light would temporarily revive the headlight function, unless that provided a temporary ground path for your lights. I'm just spit ballin'...

Manual Locking Hub Axle Parts - Sources

I'm glad you figured it out. The one good locking hub is worth keeping as a spare. It could be useful for troubleshooting hub noises or as an emergency spare some day. Don't be afraid to post some pictures of the truck and further introduce yourself in the "Introduction" section of the forum...

Manual Locking Hub Axle Parts - Sources

Since the truck has been converted from full time 4wd to part time 4wd, the locking hubs are not original to the truck. Do you know who manufactures them? Are they WARN or something different? I ask because I don't believe the internal parts are interchangeable, at least not between all...

    ignition switch feeling stiff

The ignition rack in the steering column is typically greased if I'm not mistaken. White lithium grease or wheel bearing grease should work. The steering column will need to come apart to lubricate those components though. And welcome to the forum!

    Let’s talk about headliners

Interesting... I never knew there was a difference, but I want to know too. I saved a headliner from a parts truck that I intend to put it in my K20 that never had a head liner, but now I wonder if it will work??? If I had to guess, I bet it has something to do with how the headliner fits...

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

I genuinely appreciate your appreciation for the factory systems on these trucks. It's fun to read about. Your efforts present many learning opportunities for anyone willing to follow along. When my ESC distributor died (bad pick-up coil), I replaced it with a standard HEI distributor because...

    1976 k20 gas tank swap

IDK about the '87 tanks with internal baffling, but the '82-'86 tanks without baffling use a larger different diameter neck on the fuel tank than what would've originally been on his '76.

    1976 k20 gas tank swap

The rubber filler necks to connect the the tank to the side of the box are different length when using 16 vs 20 gallon tanks. You can probably shorten the rubber sections that you have, but I've just replaced them. Also, make sure your rubber filler neck is the correct diameter for your new...

Questions about '74 All Time 4wd, HELP

^ Yup. It's certainly worth crawling under it before handing over cash. $2000 is reasonable if runs and drives as good as claimed, even if there is some underbody rust. If it can make a 560 mile drive under it's own power, its certainly worth $3000. Probably worth having some detailed...

    Starter mounting on a 350

Thank you for clarifying that. My '85 never had a secondary starter brace, and I don't ever remember seeing one on my '84 either. My '70's GM cars with 10MT starters never had them either. Everyone else referencing the secondary brace started making me question myself.

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

I vote yes, it will be fine, but I think you'll get mixed responses. I'm interested to hear what others have to say too. The electrical only controls the lock-up converter. Without it, the converter won't lock. No big deal. The only scenario where I could see a problem occurring is if your...

    Np203 part time conversion?

Very odd indeed... My '84 had 2.73's with a 700R4, and that was the combo from the factory.
