    Ignition Switch Adjustment

That happened in my Monte Carlo. I was having to play with the ignition for a couple weeks to get it to start. One day my wife tried to start it and she finally broke it. I let her hear about that. Lol Luckily it broke in the driveway.

    Gas tank brackets

Also valuable advice. Been there, done that, too!

    Gas tank brackets

Just use nuts with lock washers on the inside of the brackets. It's kinda a PITA, but it works just fine. Hold a nut in a box end wrench with one hand and tighten the bolts with the other hand, while the empty tank is supported by a jack. The holes will line up with the frame. Pay attention...

73-87 (91) Fleetside Tailgate Mechanism Repair

Thanks for this write up HotRodPC! I followed your tutorial and fixed the tailgate on my K20 last night. My handle mechanism was frozen solid with the end latches in an open position. Lots of penetrating oil, hammering, lithium grease, and working the mechanism back and forth now have it...

    Cracked windshield

That's harsh, but it is funny. My '85 is often on the end of very similar jokes.

    Truck won’t start.

Could it possibly be anything to to with the new exhaust? I think it'd take quite the plugged up pipe to prevent it from running, but it's possible. One time following a minor accident, my truck wouldn't maintain highway speed. After monkey around, I found a crimped y-pipe. In the accident...

'85 K20 350ci died out on the road not getting fuel to carb, replaced fuel pump and now not getting fuel to pump

It's gotta be a plugged up fuel filter or pick-up in the tank if fuel never made it out of the new fuel pump. The pick-up in the passenger side tank on my K10 is plugged up right now. One day it just quit, the truck simply wouldn't start anymore, so I've been using the driver's side tank ever...

    Weird knock under load

Doesn't sound like a cracked flex plate to me. Too muffled sounding, like it's internal to the engine.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

To me, yours looks like the smaller K20 driveshaft I took out of my truck. Are the sleeves really coming loose? That doesn't seem right... Usually the ends are what gets sloppy.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

So what's in your old truck for a driveshaft?

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

Thanks for the measurements. The 54 3/8" N.O.S. M1008 drive shaft I bought off eBay fixed my driveshaft vibration problem, so I'm all set there. Still have plenty of other things to work out on the truck, but at least that one's off the list.

    Dirt Trail K10 Question

Make sure you have a good set of tires. Especially if you plan to daily and off road it. Most "normal, rusty, k10" s that I've seen do not come with good tires. At least the ones that I've bought never did.

Any luck figuring out what's in your truck for a driveshaft?

    AXLE SHAFT HELP!!!!!

Your C10 doesn't really have a front axle shaft. The wheel/rotor ride on a spindle. The center cap on your front wheel hides the wheel bearing cap. If your new wheels don't fit on the front, you need to remove the center cap from them. Either run them without the center cap (which is ugly to...

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

So I climbed up in the attic and under Frank tonight. I wrapped some decoy cord around each driveshaft and cut it while wrapped as tightly as possible to get circumference measurements (my calipers don't have deep enough jaws to measure the diameter and the u joints get in the way on the ends)...

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

I do not have any side by side pics comparing the 52 3/4" driveshaft with the M1008 driveshaft. As soon as the 52 3/4" driveshaft came out, I slipped the M1008 driveshaft in to loose as little trans fluid as possible from the T-case. What exactly are you trying to compare? You may be able to...

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

That must've been one of the last sets made. I got my KO2's in 2017. I was thinking they changed earlier, but 5 year old tires are still babies in my book. That's why they still look good.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

^Well then it might be time for new BFG's... I was surprised how good the set of 15 to 20 year old tires still looked. The M1008 driveshaft is definitely longer then the driveshaft I pulled from my K20. M1008 is 54 3/8" from U-joint center to center. I measured my K20 driveshaft to be 52...

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

I'm confused by your question... How much is what difference? Please clarify and I'll be happy to answer. And I love your BFG's! Those look like the original TA KOs... not the KO2's. They haven't made the original BFG TA KO's in a number of years, but yours still appear to be in good shape.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

The M1008 driveshaft showed up yesterday. It's about the same length as my spare K10 driveshaft, maybe an 1/8 longer, but much heavier/stronger. After seeing them side by side, I'm glad I didn't cheap out with the conversion U-joint option. I think M1008 driveshaft is also larger in diameter...

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

Yes, the snap rings are on all 4 caps and that's the ridge your seeing. The cap oriented in the 6 o' clock position shows the end of one of the snap rings. I didn't take measurements against bucket's chart from post #40, but I'm pretty sure they're the 3R style.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

Just for the record, this is my spare '85 K10 driveshaft. It uses the inside snap ring U joints to mate with the GM 10 bolt. I thought all 8.5" 10 bolt rear ends used this style of U joint??? My K10, Camaro, and Monte Carlo all do.

Correct Driveshaft Length for 700-R4/NP208/14bolt FF

Thanks for offering, but I decided to order one of the M1008 driveshafts from ebay. I really dislike ebay, but getting a NOS drivesahft with good U-joints delivered to my door for under $200 seems like the best option I've found thus far.
