    I agree with Bruce's assessment. I can't think of any other reason why you'd have power at the fuse block, but no power to accessories with the ignition on. If you previously destroyed the lock cylinder, its very possible that the ignition rack got cracked or broken as collateral damage...

    That's the vacuum switch on the firewall that @PrairieDrifter previously mentioned. That and the brake switch are the only two things I can think of that control the lock-up converter on a 700-R4.

    An issue with the brake switch would prevent the torque converter from locking up while in overdrive, but I don't think that would prevent the transmission from shifting into overdrive. Perhaps that's what the OP meant?

    Very interesting. I didn't know there was that much variability in these trucks for the same engine size in the same production year, but now I do! Nor was I aware of the differences among 305s... Makes me wish I still had the 305 from my Monte Carlo. I don't remember seeing dished pistons...

    @SirRobyn0 thanks for the insight. I was unaware that K10 and K20 305's would be equipped with different carburetors from the factory. Doesn't seem to make sense from a production standpoint, but I believe it. You're comments also got me thinking about that electronic feedback on the carbs...
