    Here's a picture of the lifter that raised the concern on the cam above. Notice how it's worn/discolored. It was no longer a convex shape to the surface either. More flat or concave. Another example of what you do NOT want to see.

    I just read through this thread, and the Appliance wheels on @Catbox Nova caught my attention. I picked up a '73 Monte roller 2 years ago that came with a tired old set of Appliance wheels. I kept them and may run them on my Monte Carlo this summer.

    Can you run it at 1400 rpm until it's fully up to temperature? What is the choke doing? Have you been able to confirm that it's functioning, or at least not causing the truck to die on you?

    ^ This is very true! The permanent solution is powder coating. Unfortunately, powder coating costs more than a rattle can and I understand not investing big bucks (;) :hunter:) in a hunting rig. Ammo is expensive these days and licenses aren't getting any cheaper either.

    Most vehicles have the brake pedal positioned higher than the gas pedal by design. It helps you subconsciously recognize which pedal your foot is on without looking or thinking about it. I do understand your dilemma though. Just wanted to share some food for thought before your modifications...
