Do you guys think a 12' Jon boat would slide in and out of the bed on one of these mats, or will it be too grippy?
I love the idea of protecting my K20's bed with a mat like this, but I gotta be able to slide an aluminum boat in and out by myself.
I have solid rear glass I'd give you for free, but I think I might have a spare slider I'd sell. I'll check my attic when I squirrel away some parts later this week or over the weekend. I just want to wait until my wife's not watching. It's easier to avoid the part related questions than...
With the alternator unplugged, my battery held a charge overnight. No more draw.
So, I'd like to fix the alternator instead of replacing it. I haven't opened one up in over a decade though.
Is this the "diode" that causes a draw in an alternator? I should note that I have a 10SI in there...
Thanks for the ideas, guys. Sounds like I should hop on this bandwagon. It's totally my style, especially staples soldered to the bulb. LOL. It may be a moot point though, at least for this troubleshooting.
Drivable in a month is an ambitious goal IMO, especially if you have a day job and any other responsibilities in life (the horse in the background?).
Keep it in perspective and don't get discouraged when you run into snags. Good luck!
Good thinking, but the battery is from 2020 and still healthy to my knowledge. It recharged fine and has held >12V while disconnected. The battery tray might be a little crusty, but it's complete with a functioning hold down. I don't think it's bad enough to cause this.
The draw killed the...
I messed with the K10 a little yesterday and again tonight. I don't have a test light, but I have a DMM. I couldn't pick up any current between the negative battery terminal and the ground cable after I disconnected them. It doesn't make sense with how quickly my battery drains, but I'm now...

Dealers are supposed to stop selling new electric Mustangs and a whole bunch are being recalled "due to a potential safety defect that could cause the vehicles to become immobile."

My K10's not doing as well as I thought on Thursday night.
I went to start it on Friday night, and the battery was stone cold dead. I swapped a different battery into it so I could drive it (I already had the canoe loaded on top). This morning it was dead again.
I drove it on a couple...
Thanks for the additional info. This did help.
A new relay took care of it last night. Just under $20 at O'reilly and I'm back in business (P/N STD-RY117).
I'll be hauling a canoe for an evening paddle after work today. Maybe even wet a line if I'm lucky. Thanks @SirRobyn0 and @Snoots !
@SirRobyn0 Thanks for the quick answer. I know where the relay is at on the passenger side of the engine compartment, so no picture is necessary.
I tried tapping it with a hammer last night thinking that it may have been stuck. That didn't have any affect though, and I didn't want to start...
My K10 is acting spiteful now after sitting for 2 weeks while I was out of town. I typically drive it on an almost daily basis. It's an '85 with A/C (non-functioning, but pretty complete). The blower motor continues to run when the ignition switch is off.
Here's the details:
1. The truck...
You're right about that. I believe the vacuum switch for the 700R4 transmission on my '85 K10 is by the booster though. Odd that his would be in the opposite position, or I'm totally off my rocker right now.
Maybe it's a 700R4 vs TH350c thing? Lock-up vacuum switches in different positions?
I don't think that switch was ever present on a factory equipped TH350/400 truck, only trucks with overdrive edit: lock-up converters (700R4 and maybe TH350c). Someone will probably chime in soon to correct me if I'm wrong.
The one by the brake booster is a vacuum switch that will unlock the torque converter on your 700R4 when accelerating in overdrive (when it's all working properly).
If you follow the wires, they will run down to your transmission. Or wherever someone left them hanging if you drive a basket case.
@tpripps I might be able to help you out...
Are you looking for a slider, or a solid rear window?
I might have passenger door glass and/or some vent windows too. I'd have to check the attic. Do you just need the driver's vent window, or do you need the handle/lock mechanism too? I think I...
Super cool. No more room in my stable though.
I gotta think an event like this will drive square prices higher, at least for the trucks being auctioned off. Right?
I drove a new Jetta with an automatic (rental, have no interest in owning a new/foreign vehicle), and it was annoying AF. The brake pedal had to be pressed to start the ignition. Then the car decided to turn itself off at various times to save gas. Also annoying.
When did a neutral safety...
