    Who rebuilds steering columns?

I thought along those lines originally, but I remembered my father-in-law use to send his Chevelle columns out to a vendor for rebuilding. The columns would come back like new, with all new components and repainted, ready to install. Unfortunately my father-in-law passed away before I asked him...

    Who rebuilds steering columns?

I’m looking for a reputable vendor/specialist that can check, inspect and possibly rebuild a steering column. Years ago I was very lucky and found a 1977 GM truck tilt steering column that is for a floor shift model like mine. I’d love to get it installed to give me a little extra room behind...

    Wheel and Tire thread

1975 Sierra Grande - US Wheel 15x8 Slots with BF Goodrich KO2 33x12.50x15. Pro Comp 2.5” lift with added Pro Comp Dual shock steering stabilizer. It felt a little loose after the lift and tires that’s the reason for the steering stabilizer addition.

First truck, first restoration. Should be fun. 1979 Scottsdale k10

I did the same thing at your age and my dad went with rebuilding the 350 engine so I could learn how to do it. It’s a great opportunity to know the ins and outs of your truck.

    Best vendor? aftermarket? OEM?

LMC truck and Classic Industries for me for aftermarket. LMC for the small items & Classic Ind. for the higher quality finish pieces. I look for oem when I can on certain parts like trim, bezels, grills and emblems etc.

'77 doors onto an '84 GMC cab

In the LMC Truck Catalog it has the doors in two groups, 73-76 & 77-87. If they are 77 doors, they should work on your 84. im sure the difference in years has something to do with power windows?

    2in lift with 33 or 4in with 35s

Mine has a 2” lift with 33’s and it’ll still fit in a standard garage opening. I didn’t need to do anything with the drive shafts but I did upgrade to a dual Shock steering stabilizer because it felt loose driving after the lift and tires were installed.

Is it better then a 1980 Square Body

It’s all about personal preference. Both styles have a good strong following of collectors. I’ve always preferred the squarebody style over anything Ford was producing at the time.

does anyone know for sure and have pics of 75k wheels

A factory Installed 6lug rally wheel should pass inspection. The State Would have a hard time proving otherwise on an original part. I had them on my 75 K prior to upgrading to an aftermarket wheel.

    6X9 Speakers

i made a set of speaker boxes for my truck. Lumber was cheap and I made sure it had a good seal against the cab corner, resulting in better sound coming out of the speakers.

    Best tire on a budget

I’ve used BFGoodrich on a few vehicles I’ve owned, specifically a C10 with 265/60/15 and they handled great and looked good and for me they were affordable.

What have you done to your square lately??

replaced my temp gauge and upon reinstall of dash pieces I bumped the steering column trim piece (which already had a slight crack) on the steering wheel and it snapped off. Waiting for glue to dry to reinstall. I hope the glue holds when it is tightened down.

    Temperature gauge maxes out

I’m in the same boat. I have a new thermostat, coolant flush and fill, temp sensor and my gauge still doesn’t read. Lmc truck or Classic industries has the new gauge for $40. Replacing the gauge is the next step. I guess after 45 years, it’s to be expected that they could fail.

Sticky steering wheel and other plastic interior parts?

tried the brake cleaner, it sorta worked with no discoloring. It’s a little tacky but only in certain spots. Maybe with a few more hours of scrubbing, cussing and getting frustrated, I’ll just buy a new steering wheel.:emotions122:

Sticky steering wheel and other plastic interior parts?

I pulled the headlight knob off and wiped it down thoroughly and it was not sticky but just a day later I can feel a little tackiness to it. I tried simple green and it didn’t work. Next is Trying brake cleaner (Saw a video online about it).

Sticky steering wheel and other plastic interior parts?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to remedy sticky plastic/rubber parts on my truck interior parts (steering wheel, headlight switch knob, etc). I know it’s due to age and chemical breakdown of the polymers. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to clean the sticky off and what cleaning...
