I went through this as well when I did my swap, although I don't think the swap had anything to do with it because I had a 700R4 and the swap had a 4l60E.
Anyway, finally during the swap I learned to put the weight of the transmission on it to make it flex down bringing the holes together. Get...
Buddy offered me a flat 62" deflecta-shield. What size is supposed to be on our squares? I doubt I'll use it, but I'm sure I can find it a good home here.
I did that once and the corner boxes bent. I probably hooked into the wrong location or in the wrong way.
Good note, just for the bed, I drilled another hole on my picker strickly for the bed and used a heavy pipe to extend further.
guess I'll be getting a chunk of 2x6 to put in the corner.
last time I used hexagonal aluminum from work about 1.5 inch thinking the flat edge would bite enough to stop it from moving. NOT...it ended up shifting towards the cab. Lesson learned, thanks for the idea.
next time regardless of...
you can put the citristrip, in a small section, the put saran wrap over it and let it sit for 24 hours. See how much comes off. The saran wrap keeps the citristrip gel moist and doesn't let it dry. Makes it "a little goes a long way".
like a jackass, on the last one I took a screwdriver and pried a bit....hardly any pressure.....SNAP!! Broke it in half. See if the seller will send one for free or just buy one if it's an option.
Got the $60 lens for the lund visor. Well the angle was wrong. Instead of sending back (cuz his angles in the pics were as bad I what I received), I decided for sake of time to heat them up and bend them myself.
I built a jig with plastic inside so the lens could spread as I compressed with...
I've had flex heads....and no i don't like them. If your doing little stuff it's fine. But if you get into something that requires a lot of muscle.....expect busted knuckles at times. Just my opinion.
I had some in my tool box, a neighbors kid helped me getting the hood back on and I gladly...
just thought about it, but if you wanted to strip it you could use Citristrip from walmart. Spread it on a little thick, then put saran wrap on top of it (will keep the citristrip from drying). let it sit overnight and come back with a scraper or brush. Depending on how much paint is on it...
I use my truck bed mainly for just hauling the average stuff and hauling deer.
With that said, I wanted the bed floor to be easy to slide stuff across it. Sliding a deer across gritty bed liner is just more labor at my age. So I decided to paint it with Rustoleum 2x Painters Touch gloss...
look on the backside of your fuse block and make sure someone didn't solder the crimps on and filled the hole for any of the connections. I did that so when I pushed the relay in...it pushed the wire out the back because the slotted connector was full of solder.
lol was a DA moment for me lol...
nothing meant but is there a reason why the top center bar isn't level with the rest? Sorry if I missed a previous post that said so. For me, otherwise it kicks ass. Wish I had those welding skills.
installed the aluminum rails, painted the grill and headlight bezels. Looking to install the brush gaurd and sun visor soon as well as painting the bed cap. I'll get some pics up in a few days.
