    Ls swap or not?

if I was piss poor (no offense), and had to spend $1,000 on an engine, I'd drop in a 5.3, re-work the harness myself and be done. More HP/TQ and mpg. Can be done for less than $1,000 pending. But then again, if I was piss poor, I could probably find a running 350 (that I had a good feeling...

    Mpg to expect on an '82 C20 3+3, 350?

I swear I wish I had some peoples issues/problems/delima's lol. If you put a 4x4 square burb or 3+3 side by side, I don't know which one I would take.

    Bed disassembly

When I replaced the bedsides, I started at the front with screws loose, then went to the back.....all wouldn't line up. So I tried the opposite....wouldn't line up. I think I should have loosened the fender wells so they would move to get everything lined up. And then dropped the sides...

    Electric fan resistance?

ok simple solution would be to put a relay on the fan. Use the current positive going to the fan as the positive control SIGNAL to the relay. Then wire in positive from a good source (typically the battery). problem solved. ~$10 and 20 minutes if you know what your doing and ur done.

What have you done to your square lately??

be careful with the screws. They are made to strip out so you don't pull the insert out of the battery. A local battery distributor told me that I was over tightening them. They gave me different screws but said don't get carried away.

    Electric fan resistance?

how are you reading ohms with power to it?

    Electric fan resistance?

ohms on an electric motor is very close to zero depending on how many windings it has. In general, less that 10-20 ohms on a motor is good.

What have you done to your square lately??

Picked up the ls 5.3 crank from the machine shop for polishing. And I'm almost committed to rebuilding. This only cost me $50. Next is the block (which ever is best of 3). Then all else is parts/kits. [edit] Another ~$1,900 to go

    Ls swap or not?

not gonna read all the posts. Keep it simple. Do your math/research for the swap. If you do the swap, keep EVERYTHING from the old. If you do the swap, don't alter anything that can't be reversed. Good example....if you ls swap it you'll probably need a tank with baffles in it. Keep the...

What to replace while doing tie rods?

Agree with @TotalyHucked . While ur there do as much as you can afford including the front brakes and other suspension parts. If not split them up in thirds.....complete front end, complete brakes, full suspension. All 3 of these are best completed left side-right side as well.

How to increase your odds for success at automotive wiring, electrical installation and trouble shooting.

we have to do this at work on medical equipment all the time. Put the meter on it (be it ohm or voltage) and start moving wires around. If it's wiring, and you move around every length....you'll find it. Normally quicker than you think. A good set of 6-8' test lead extenders (wire with gator...

Cleaned the trim on the camper shell and the wheels. The front wheels were so bad u couldn't see aluminum. Purple power aluminum brightener and 10 minutes of elbow grease with green scotch brite made a diff. Still needs work but almost there

    305 to 5.3

I believe you'll want to keep the hose fitting on the back of the power steering pump. If I remember correctly it bolts right into the LS power steering pump. This way you can use stock hoses with the new pump.

Etch primer and sun baked 'surface rust'

scuff off the little, wire brush big chunks. Then I spray a rust convertor on it per directions, prime and paint....of course this is spray paint and not auto paint. The rustoleum line of 2x Ultra Cover painters touch is a primer/paint all in one.....if your gonna spray paint it. Then again...

Is Walmart's ATF Better Than GM's? Let's find out!

Valvoline Dex/Merc for me (Walmart for $18/GAL) because I don't want to use Dexron IV in mine. Dex/Merc supposed to be the same as Dexron III. Dexron IV is thinner. [edit] Also the fluid in my trans is Dexron III.....I'm not gonna start mixing stuff if I can help it.
