Wiper washer won't stop and I have no intermittent wipers

NOTICE --> Zombie resurrection ..... I lost the intermittent control module on my '86 K5 and I even found a used module but it too had the same problem .. Low and HIGH only and the intermittent part would not work. Several people told me that the capacitors on the circuit board were...

    PCV routing check

There was the Delco "Eye" battery that told you of the water level condition inj one cell ... Actually --- California just enforces federal laws - even if California initiates many of the laws and rules for manufacturers. They're fighting a losing battle - rotten administration and...

    PCV valve rattle when running

The only way you can get pressure in the crankcase is if you've eliminated the KV-side of the PCV system. It is there to relieve any pressure in the crankcase and send those fumes down the throttle body or carb throat. Did you add a custom air filter without the KV in it?

    PCV valve rattle when running

That noisy little "weight" inside the valve case is all metal and many times manufacturers will add a plastic coating to the floating valve itself in order to remove the rattling noise. The plastic coated silent ones will wear away and need replacement sooner - while I have never seen the...

    PCV routing check

"Pollution Control Valve" was the correct answer on the California Smog Installers' and Adjusters' test --- I just stuck with it. Did you know that the most important part of any vehicle is the battery? California thought so - and that's the one question I missed on the test.

    PCV routing check

OIL in that location means that there's a really high amount of blowby. That "useless filter" in your opinion, works in a decent engine but it can drip oil in a junk engine with junk rings and lots of blowby.

    PCV routing check

The "Bow Tie" filter was on the KV side of the PCV system. It was a fiber mat material that allowed excessive crankshaft fumes to go out there if the PCV couldn't handle the correct flow direction during that time. This was to keep the crankcase at times from being positively charged as there...

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

I specifically won't use a Holley because every time the sun goes behind a cloud you have to rejet it. I needed torque in my 383 stroker and although the extra length was supposed to do it - I found it to be a big disappointment. I didn't want to go high compression and just used some...

Anyone here ever tear down / rebuild a 208C transfer case?

I usually use the Permatex RTV Copper or Red for these jobs. The gasket between the adapter and the transfer input case area is a joke! That's the best use for RTV 'cause the surfaces are never really gonna seal by using a gasket alone! I know -- BT - DT.

    Anybody Bought/Own A Handheld Scope?

I am working on digital signals from various sensors and sending units ---- the throttle position sensors to be the most important right now. I recently found out how to see the rising and dropping (X & Y) values of both the potentiometers on the GM fly-by-wire throttle controls (P2122 - yuck)...

Anyone here ever tear down / rebuild a 208C transfer case?

Found a drawing of that shaft and short pin ......... Part #23. #26 is the fork I rebuilt.

Anyone here ever tear down / rebuild a 208C transfer case?

I just resealed my 208 a couple of months ago. I had to manufacture a new High-Low fork, but it was worth it - parts aren't available unless you buy a whole unit. I didn't want to do that - so I fixed what I have. There is no brass synchro/clutch ring in this unit. That pin and circlip on...

Brass Synchro Ring in Transfer Case

I converted from OE Auto Hubs to Warn Aftermarket Manual hubs and there is no brass synchro ring inside these units.

86 c10 Driveline is too short

Where did you buy as "brand new trans(mission)"? Brand new transmissions are usually wrapped inside a brand new vehicle and I have yet to find any brand new ones (except for the ZF-Fords*) in all my 55+ years as a mechanic that were any more then Rebuilt, Reman'd or Used. * I ain't going there.

    Too slow to low

FWIW - I grow tired of all the misinformation about transmissions - especially the older one - which were my income for many years. As a retired builder of transmissions, you need the Throttle Cable (it's not really just a 'kickdown' cable) and the modulator to work in conjunction with each...

    '86 K5 Tailgate Weatherstrip Gasket

I accidentally bought one too many and I don't think I'll still be alive when it needs another one ... so it's for sale. Still in original unopened bag. As bought from Amazon Tail Gate Tailgate Weatherstrip Seal Rubber for 73-91 Chevy Blazer GMC Jimmy ... $54.95 Make your offer and...

    Tail light help !!!

About soldering wires .... Modern solder will "work harden" and becomes brittle with engine and road vibrations. After a time, the joint becomes just physical as the wires are usually twisted before soldering - if not, they fall apart and create a lot of resistance --- and resistance means...

What have you done to your square lately??

I've just completed a window rubber/wiper/guide replacement on both the front doors and the tailgate. Now my window motors are mad at me and the tailgate motor is slightly more angry at me for the same reason. I replaced the driver's door lock solenoid and it didn't work (my bad for not...

    How straight are our axles?

@RaiderL ... I bet you're too young to remember nylon cord tires ... huh? They would get flat on the bottom overnight and need several miles of driving to warm them up enough to make them go round again.

What have you done to your square lately??

I had a camp out to collect firewood ... I burn over 8 cords every year ...and one of the brawny guys got sick so I decided to service my transfer case. It was over 20 years ago that it was even looked at, so I figured it was about time! Uh oh! gold sparkles in the ATF! .... so I took off the...

1976 vin number. How many digits is your vin?

Proof in documentation is on a per-state basis, according to it's laws and practices so there's not a lot of amazement there. I once wrote a check on 3-ring notebook paper and my bank processed it ... this was in CA around 1963 or so.

    How straight are our axles?

You're right. How many RPM does an axle run anyway? (aluminum foil hat time) Moments of energy need higher velocities than 1000 RPM to make any real difference. I don't think the SOP (seat-of-the-pants) would even be able to detect this ULF oscillation. If you're worried (telling others...

How long does your Q-jet hold fuel in the bowl?

I'm willing to bet there's a lot to be included in the missing gas theory is the size of the engine compartment. My K5 has an engine in it that I can stand alongside it and possibly even close the hood too. It can hold a fuel charge overnight pretty well - but somehow if I try to restart it...
