Dual tank fuel gauge makes no sense.

Something is wired wrong. Duh, huh. That being said, new parts don't mean good parts. good chance the valve has a screwed wire in it. Did it work before you changed the valve?

All 4 headlights went out at once

Pull the flooring cover up in the corner, the dimples are there for the floor mounted switch, if the mat/carpet is original the hole for the switch is cut in it. The plug for the steering colum switch will plug into the floor mounted switch, if you cut the little latch off of it. need to add...

    SM465 X 2.5 gears

This all makes sense to me. Until the speedo broke my 84 K20, 350 (a little cammed up) 465 275/85/ 16 and 4:10 gears gets me around 14 mpg driving. It has pulled anything I've hooked to it with no problem. Speedo has never worked in the same ish set up (different tires) 82 K 10, but seems fuel...

Exhaust and dump bed pump protection ideas

Them little pumps are pretty darn tough. I'd say any little sheet metal shield would do the trick. The hoses are pretty tough as well. Would have to say if it is 6 inches away from the muffler or pipe your fine. You don't just let it sit idleing for extended periods do you?

    Trailer mounted winch

Agree with this. As much as a battery cost nowdays, it's probably less than the cable, breaker and plug to run from the truck battery.

    Looking for a sleeper

Haha, no I couldn't even get in one now days, 6'5'' 240 pounds and old and fat. Though rode in several, the kind with a back door back when I was alot younger. In this case it is for cleanish storage.

    Looking for a sleeper

Where in the hell did you find those? I've been looking on craigs list for a good while with zero luck. There really isn't a scrap yard around here, I'm aware of, that has anything old.

    Looking for a sleeper

It must be a southern ish thing? Yes sir, looking for the bed level kind. Mounting it on a flat bed, on the welding truck. Just a good safe place to keep my hoods, gloves, change of clothes etc.. Plus the O2 bottles will be mounted underneath it. Man I appreciate it! Were it not so far away I'd...

    Looking for a sleeper

One of the smaller fiberglass ones. Not sure if there is such a thing as a boot anymore for our old trucks? Getting things together to build the 75 a new bed.

What new tools have you got lately?

Pick this little feller up. Not a fan of plasma cutters, except for sheet metal. Building a flat bed, he wants under boxs, so I got sheet metal work to do.

    Push button ignition

Thats a good idea, all my squares,( but one, the wires are ran just aint put the button in) have buttons to start, cigarette lighter is a great place! Probably get hung for this, but I just scotch lock to the red and purple wire, never given me a problem, and easy to "fix"

What new tools have you got lately?

Believe if I had to work on the pump, I would get a 12 volt hydraulic pump and put on that thing. Nice shop crane!

What new tools have you got lately?

Yes it's belt speed and hp. Metal you will be much happier with a grinder.

What new tools have you got lately?

Belt sander or belt grinder? I have a 3/4 hp Dayton 2 by 42. It's a grinder, lemme go look, it turns 3450 rpm. Had it probably 12 years or more. No problems, have redesigned some guards and the platent. You'll find it's not an occasional use tool, you'll end up using it everytime your in the shop.

    700R4 to SM465 maybe

HaHa Yes Sir. And if you were to have done it 10 times there will be things 'we were not aware of" on this one! Or, thats how it works for me. Plus, we need to think of the value of these old trucks. The closer to original they are the more value they hold, and they are getting valuable. I'm...

    700R4 to SM465 maybe

As much of an automatic hater as I am. It would be hard for me to go thru the trouble of changing to a standard instead of just a good rebuild of the auto. On top of that unless you have a known 465, it would need a good "going thru" before you went through the trouble of putting it in the truck.

Donkey. Dirt track race car build.

Welp, 2 and a half weeks ago. Had everything all fixed up, motor and trans in, drive shaft in. Was working on getting the exhaust sorted, then it was ready to fire and get it tuned. Thats when we learn, or learn that it is most probable that the track in Amarillo has sold. The buzz is it will...

    Making multipurpose shops work

They don't work! Unless they are huge or cut into rooms. Mine is cut into rooms, one is the "clean" machine shop, lathes, mills work tables for jobs and where any engine work goes on. I will not bring a grinder into this room, does have a little bench grinder where I touch up drill bits cutting...
