Another. What rear end is this?

You accusing me of butchering a classic? .... i am, but ain't, just making it into what the old car wants to be.

Another. What rear end is this?

There are no numbers on the axle tubes, either side. Nor on the tops of the "gussetts" on the pumpkin. Will get it jacked up and look futher at a later date. Did earlier when it was up in the air but just scratched around with my knife, couldn't find anything to investigate farther? I slam have...

Another. What rear end is this?

Good info @bucket ! It is appreciated! Looks like I will be "adapting" the 9 inch Ford up under there. My understanding is the gear sets and disk brake units are readily avalible and not to expensive for them. Plus it is from a pickup and 4 inches wider. Need an extra for your wagon, more than...

What new tools have you got lately?

Whats been added of late. Been shopping Porta Bands for some time, only found 3 brands Milwalkee, DeWalt and Bauer. Went Bauer because it was 375 bucks less than the Milwalkee and don't much care for DeWalt. Rather have found an old used Milwalkee. Also snagged this old home made tubing bender...

Another. What rear end is this?

On the 76 Sprint. One I'm building a roundy round car. Cannot find a match for the cover shape, closest I've seen is a BOP? Nor have I been able to locate any numbers, so far. Have a line on a 9 inch Ford, but would run this one if I can figure it out. Appreciate it Guys!! Shakey

    How straight are our axles?

What is it your curious about? The first axle shaft was turned, fit and welded shorter. It looked like a banana in there. Just ran it slow and got it turned.

Is there any hope for these tools?

Soak them in water again till the rust softens up. Scrub them down with scotch brite and WD 40.

    How straight are our axles?

No sir, if your talking about the 3 spots in the center of the axle there is nothing in the axle tube.

    How straight are our axles?

To add to the confusion. The straight lines are the lows, the arrows the highs.

    How straight are our axles?

Interesting result You can see what I did, realize there is some sag introduced sticking out like that but? It was .034 on the machined surface by the wheel bearing, .037 then .034 headed tword the chuck on the ground(?) surfaces. Interesting part is, like talked about eariler, the highs and...

    How straight are our axles?

Agree. Though if you will look at where the indicator is running, it's on a lightly ground (my guess, can't see any tool marks) round surface.

    How straight are our axles?

Familiar story? Is there a recent thread on this subject? I agree with the inertia theory. Or, some kind of engineering math where it gets straight with heat??

    How straight are our axles?

For shits and giggles I put the other shaft in on centers. This 3 jaw is dialed in dead nut. Shows .005 run out at the bearing and .055 in the center..ish. just a fwiw, and my continued confusion. In case any one was wondering.
