Has anyone converted their '73 to 3 point seat belts?
Mine has the blind nut behind the plug. Not sure if they did that with every truck or not. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to find new trim pieces or just drill holes so that I can install the 3pt system into the truck. -

HEI Distributor Height
I did the same with my '73, but I've got the big block... Not quite as tight. Hey Robert, Is that the original wire loom on the firewall? Mine disintegrated before I got ahold of the truck. Would love to replace it, but can't find them.- SlickGTP

I've thought of trying something like this, but honestly, it seems like more trouble than it's worth for me... Choosing a new carb and intake
For the low end torque you're going to want a dual plane intake of some sort. The single planes are better for high RPM applications. When choosing a cam, you have to take everything into consideration. RPM range, Gear Ratios, Tires, etc... I say this as I'm still learning about what one...- SlickGTP

TH400 fixed yoke to slip yoke
Do you have a one piece or two piece drive shaft? My slip yoke is paired with a two piece which effectively makes it a stationary slip yoke...- SlickGTP

My short tail has a slip yoke even though it has the two piece driveshaft. Don't remember how long the yoke was though. Might be able to find a picture for estimating purposes though.- SlickGTP

Always working alone...
I do a lot of solo work, but I do have a buddy or two that will help when the need arises. I usually end up being mentor and coach more often than not. Bad pushrod
I had that happen on one of mine after a rebuild and it turned out to be the rocker. It had a small defect in the socket and chewed up the pushrod. I bought a a new rocker and a then for the hell of it a whole new set of pushrods so that they would all be the same. Here's what mine looked like:- SlickGTP

How to tell if TC has lock-up?
The TH400's never had a lock up converter. If I remember right all 700r4's had lock up converters. The TH350's are the ones you have to watch out for as some had a lock up converter in the later years.- SlickGTP

We have a couple, but most of the trucks I see are the 80-87(89)... The older ones I do see from time to time are usually beat up pretty bad or rusted through. -

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a rust free or nearly rust free OEM passenger side fender and inner fender for the earlier style front clip. -
Carburetor rebuild
It's a later model QJet... As far as whether or not it's worth rebuilding, I wouldn't say no, but personally I'd probably look for one that was made just before they put the electronics into it. That said, I've heard that there's a way to remove the electronics, but don't know the exact...- SlickGTP
