Turbo 400 Build - Mega Carnage to Better than New.

Hey JKnight I finally got under the dash and took a few photos of the th400 kickdown harness. It's going to be a little different than later models, but mostly just wire color I think. All it is, is two wires taped together... The Brwn/Wht wire goes to a fused accessory port on the block...

    Slick's Junkyard Thread...

That's going to be a really rare find in a junk yard and I'd be tempted as all hell to snag it for myself, but I'll let you know if I ever do come across one.

    Slick's Junkyard Thread...

There were two squares with sticks last weekend, just don't know if they were hydraulic clutch set-ups or not... Hopefully they're still there when I go back next. Might be a couple of weeks from now though.

    Slick's Junkyard Thread...

Hey Guys! I've been making it to the yard more often lately and thought I'd get a thread going if anyone needs me to look out for parts while I'm out there and how much they're willing to spend on said parts. Not sure how often I'll be out there, but last time I was there I saw quite a few...

    Q-Jet question M4ME

I've found this site to be very helpful. http://quadrajetparts.com/?osCsid=a8bf120cc4ca96abcf05c8223920828a ..and this book is great. I'm using it to calibrate the Quadrajet on the truck. How to Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors

    Fusebox Swap

Has anyone ever swapped the newer stock blade style fuse box into an older truck with the glass tube style fuse box. Just curious as to how much trouble it'd be and if it's even worth it. I know I might be nuts, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper to pull a fuse box out of a junkyard truck...

Turbo 400 Build - Mega Carnage to Better than New.

Yeah, I was wondering if it got hot in the case or if that was a manufacturing side-effect. The Reaction Carrier won't spin at all which locked the first set of planetaries in place. I'll have to give it a bit of persuasion this evening and see if I can get the two apart.

Turbo 400 Build - Mega Carnage to Better than New.

Cool... As it's really just a spare part at this point I won't worry about it too much. It does seem like it's seized on the output carrier though. The two parts don't want to come apart very easily.

Turbo 400 Build - Mega Carnage to Better than New.

Hey HR, How do you know when a reaction carrier is toast? Here's the one I pulled out of the spare TH-400. The ripples might come off with a bit of work with an emery cloth, but not sure if it's worth the effort. Also, is the output carrier supposed to be colored like that? Thanks!

    TH-400 Speedo Housing

Hey HR! Found this when I tore into that TH-400 I was talking about in the other thread. Any knowledge on how to take it apart? I'd like to repair the wire on it unless it's fairly worthless. I've never seen one like it before though.

    Dual Tank Hoses

I recently put mine together and remember there being one 3/8"(primary) and one 1/4"(return hose, also if I remember correctly). The vapor hose was 5/16" if I remember correctly and each tank T's into one line that goes up to the front, but I'd have to climb back under the truck to be certain...

Turbo 400 Build - Mega Carnage to Better than New.

What's your timeframe for this? I need to hit up the yard sometime in the near future to get some electric lock and window harnesses for my doors and I can walk out with that harness intertwined with the stuff I need for nothing extra. What's two wires extra in the mix of two other...

    Haggerty Snapress Clutch Spring Compressor

Not to bring threads back from the past, but just saw this one... Very nice... Gives me a better idea of what I'd be getting myself into if I try to make something similar. If I could find one cheap, I wouldn't mind purchasing it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks like people have been busy... I finally got the truck inspected and aligned last weekend. Sure drives a hell of a lot better with all new steering linkages and all rebuilt hydraulic components. The Hydroboost takes a little getting used to, but is nice. :)

What have you done to your square lately??

Adjusted my brake light switch after getting the hydroboost system in last weekend and the system bled. Ended up rebuilding the hydrobooster, p/s pump, and the gearbox. After which I decided since everything was apart, to go and replace all the steering linkages. She should be a happy truck...

What have you done to your square lately??

Looking good there... Glad you were able to figure out what was your issue. Next time you have to deal with the o-rings on the injectors, it helps to give them a thin coat of lube. ;)

What have you done to your square lately??

I took the dog out for a spin in the truck and then finally started working on the hydroboost swap... Before: After: Still have to run the hoses and what not, but it's getting there. Hope to get a write-up out soon after I get it finished.

    Tail Light issue

Nope... The bed grounds directly to the frame. If the blocks aren't conductive, that would be your issue. I know from experience. :anitoof:

    Tail Light issue

Make sure all the grounds are good too. I had issues until I realized that I had the bed insulated from the frame at the time I was testing stuff out. The taillights ground through the bed to the frame.

What have you done to your square lately??

Interesting... This was my first teardown of one. Hopefully I got it back together correctly and I can get it in the truck soon. I think I have all the necessary pieces.
