    Shift indicator not working

Do you have the piece that broke ? If so, maybe glue it back together? If not, not sure how you are going to do your idea , but it seems reasonable, and easier, that replacing the cluster plastic. A smooth bolt with some sort of ridge to keep the cable from moving too far out of a straight...

EGR Solenoid California Emission 1985 305

I'd mimic the way your schematic is drawn with the hoses. So, upper right port is vacuum from the back of the carb. Lower right to the EGR, and the port on the left to the front of the carb. Might just work. :waytogo:

    Steering column removal

The 2 connectors pictured there - turn signal switch & what looks like a wiper switch, but yours is an 81 - ?? will come apart when you push on that black tab and push them apart. The 2 connectors for the ignition switch IIRC have a metal strip that holds them down - you can just pry that up...

    Ignition Switch Adjustment

Assuming the switch is still good, try adjusting it so you have the switch as far towards the seat as possible. Non tilt pushes the rod down, so hopefully that gets you enough travel. Non tilt switches are different than tilt, but the wiring connectors are not- they are just end over end...

    Converter Lockup?

Can't say on a 700R4, but the TH350C in Goldie has the TCC, and the PO had a toggle switch mounted in the dash to control it. I turn it off in stop and go traffic. It seems like the truck likes to get the lurches at slower speeds and light throttle otherwise. Free bump for you, though...

    Ignition Switch Adjustment

IIRC, the tilt column will pull the rod and a non tilt pushes it towards the firewall. Maybe try putting the switch in the run position, then hook the rod on and snug the bolts. If you get a start and the accessory, you are good. If you get start and no accessory, well, that may be close...

    Problem getting a 1979 GMC 350 running

LOL - I had a '79 Z28 I bought off the original owner for 1300 bux in '92. The AC still worked ... :Big Laugh: At any rate, same issue - the valve stems had mushroomed and the rocker would walk right off of it. So ... I bought some push rod girdles , dremeled a bit on the head so they...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had to pull the lower radiator hose off the radiator to replace the last of the big, and presumably leaking, tower clamps. I have seen drops of antifreeze on the inner fender skirt bottom on the PS. How that is such a major PITA, I dunno, but has been both times. Anyway, hopefully that...

What have you done to your square lately??

No, it was not The Truck Shop. Now I cannot remember who I got my seat material from... The only difference I can see between it and the OE is the buttons in the back of the top. Even has the vinyl piping. And, would be on, or being worked on, if I had my carpet... I guess from now on all...

What have you done to your square lately??

It's not LMC, which is who I will do bidness with wherever possible now - unless, of course, this gets resolved. I mean, come on - is a phone call back that hard ? Is a "this is an unusual situation and I am sorry for your issue. Let me talk to a manager and see if we can help you out ?"...

What have you done to your square lately??

On the plus side, the new PVS82 came in, is installed- sprayed a bit when I pulled the old one out as I had just got home from work- and IT WORKS! :happy107: No vacuum at the EFE hose when it is hot, and yeah, it was hot ! Added bonus- less vacuum at the Auto Thermac air inlet valve, so...

What have you done to your square lately??

Well, spent about 45 minutes on the phone chasing my carpet order that was supposedly delivered 12/16 , but wasn't. Been calling since early January - documenting it since 01/12, and each time requires at least 30 minutes to get thru. Last Friday I gave the work number as the guy I talked to...

What new tools have you got lately?

Wife bought me this a while back - I have not used it yet, though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P9GO1K/ I bought one of these today. Looks like the D variant would have been the way to go - I got an older A. SNAP-ON TOOLS S9840A 1 1/4" 1/2" DRIVE THERMAL VACUUM SWITCH SOCKET "A" "D"

What have you done to your square lately??

Just verified with a vacuum gauge that the OE EGR TVS works - yay ! Zero vac at cold start up, even revving it a bit, then let it run for a few minutes and you start getting vacuum to the EGR. So, the only one to change is the aftermarket Standard Products one on there now for the EFE. And...

What have you done to your square lately??

@SirRobyn0 seems to be pretty sharp. When you say you can't find the sensor - meaning you cannot find where it is, or where to buy it ? Where it is on Goldie - and presumably yours - is on the water neck. I have 2 of them - lucky me :anitoof: - and there is one on the water neck for the EFE...

What have you done to your square lately??

Did some more EFE trouble shooting- I am getting ballpark 16 to 18 inches of vacuum on the EFE line with the engine fully warmed up. I experimented with a pair of new vaccuum check valves in lieu of the round 4 ported one - no change. I am convinced that new(er) TVS is *****. Really...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have a TCC as well, which is controlled by the EGR TVS, I believe, but it works. For my 80 , here is what I need to order from Fleabay : PVS82 4 ported in a triangular style for EFE . PVS53 for the EGR - 4 ported, but rectangular.

What have you done to your square lately??

Cool - seems like I read that somewhere. I got irritated at the TVSs and plugged the EFE hose again. Then I played follow the vaccuum hose vs the schematic and am sure the EFE is correct, but cannot tell on the EGR as there are 4 ports on my TVS 2 on top side by side and 2 on bottom. The...
