GMC Savana, Plus a Chevy Express Now Too

Having had a white Suburban and a black one, my personal preference for color on trucks that get driven a lot, is the pewter and gold colors. They don't show dirt too bad, and they are shiny when they are freshly washed (or driven in the rain). Not gonna lie, that black Burb looked sweet and...

    Hub cap/trim ring combo

Here's a few pictures of these caps, finally got to them in the shop. There's a few minor scratches but overall they're reasonably nice.

    Hub cap/trim ring combo

Actually I have a set of the late square body 16" full wheelcovers, that came off my '90 R2500 Burb. I was restoring them, so it went around with nekkid steel wheels for a while. My plan was to put the aluminum wheels on it, but tire prices, and life in general, had other plans.....

    6.7 Cummins Suburban Build

Burbs were never available from the factory as one tons, 3/4 or 1/2 ton only. But they could be had with big blocks, full floaters and heavy duty suspension and transmission (400 or 4L80) in square body trucks and the OBS trucks. And of course nowadays anything can be built, with enough time...

New to the square body group!

That two tone brown one, the darker shade is what Gillman painted our '81's left rear fender with. Much more root beer (more reddish brown); the '81 color is more of a chocolate color. The truck got a bad scrape on that fender, getting unloaded from the transporter, and that was how they "fixed"...

    1968 Chevy Crew Cab

Here's a thing I found online back in February. This covers the '60-66 trucks; there were six of this particular truck built for a railroad as crew trucks. I thought I had a screenshot of the Scott trucks, but I guess it got deleted or something....

How much are these push bars worth?

Yeah, the one I got at the yard, barely got it in my Burb, from the yard wagon! The push bumper style in the pics, more era correct anyway, and IIRC they were shipped unassembled to make the box smaller....the ones I remember seeing anyway.

How much are these push bars worth?

The bumper shape is a little bit different from 73-80, to 81-91.

How much are these push bars worth?

I have two similar to the one my crew cab came to me with. One, I found at one of the yards on 50% off day,so it only cost like $30. The other one was given to me by another member of the 400 forum; he'd gotten it on the dually he just got and didn't want it. I just had to go across town to pick...

Swap meet in Conroe, Texas soon!

Not this weekend, but next weekend, October 27-29, the Fall Conroe swap meet at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds off Loop 336 north. I should be there in the old building, space B17. Hopefully I'll see some of y'all there! Check www.hotrodsoftexas.com for more details....

    What is it?

Yes that's how the old G vans we had at an old job were. Basically the whole box is a giant speaker cabinet! Even if it has the cargo partition, that doesn't help much. And they're cold in the winter and hot in the summer; the HVAC cannot keep up. You can however carry a LOT of cargo in them...

What have you done to your square lately??

What steering wheel is that? Looks like a bit older than the rest of the interior....but it looks good!

    What is it?

I see I'm not the only one who figured out that the '81-'87 mirrors fit the door contour perfectly on the Advance Design trucks! We had our '81 Sierra shop truck, with a trailer hooked up, hauling my old GMC from one storage place to another, and Dad and I got to looking at the mirrors. He had a...

Any muscle car fans out there

They're the same platform as the 455 Buick, just with 25 fewer cubes. One thing you want to watch for, these are known for cracked blocks around the rear cam bearing and freeze plugs. Dad had a '67 Wildcat convertible he bought in 1976-77, that was parked because of this issue. Somewhere in my...

    What is it?

Yup,and the sedan delivery and panel trucks/vans were used in cities for deliveries. Florists and grocers loved them! The HHR and its panel version are throwbacks to this era.

    Rotor discoloration, pulsing

And when you get it apart, clean and lube all the caliper pins with hi temp brake grease. The stuff I use looks and feels kinda like butterscotch cake frosting, and you need to "frost" the pins and contact surfaces (where the calipers rub/slide on the spindle brackets) so that the calipers can...

New member, long time square body owner

Welcome to the forum, from Houston, TX. That looks like my OBS crew cab's daddy, even has the same wheels. Mine was bought from the grandson of the original owner, been a Texas farm truck till I got it. Been daily-ing it since it has AC and heat that works....yes it's fun driving something this...

    What is it?

This is a '67-72 Burb I saw in Conroe at the swap meet in February. IIRC, red/white, blue/white, and orange/white were popular color combos on this era truck.

    What is it?

Yes those have a number of rust points. Uncle used to have a '69 pickup that needed cowls and cab corners, but still looked good everywhere else. Another thing about the panels; they were available in two different wheelbases. That was a thing on most of the previous generations of trucks, and...

    What is it?

Yes that's an Action Line ('67-72) Burb. Three doors, rear passenger door only on the passenger side. Not near as common as square body Burbs, they were just starting to become recreational/SUVs instead of just commercial trucks. They might have even still called them "carryall suburbans" in the...

    8 Lug Dually wheels

GM uses the same lug pattern for the 8 lug trucks through the 2010 model year. 2011 and newer are a different, larger pattern. I believe the other makes changed around the same time, so the Transit van is likely to be the newer pattern.
