    engine oil

This is what I've been using after the rebuild. So far its been doing well. I really have no idea how it stacks up to the others.

    K30 w/hydroboost clutch pedal solution

For pedals I think this is the setup your wanting to get. I picked these up for $250 on the ebay a while back, along with a steering column from a manual trans truck. Now they are just sitting in the garage and waiting.

    Speedo Bouncing under 20MPH

Thanks guys! I'm assuming the easiest way to inspect and lube the thing would be taking out the gauge cluster? and lube top down. While the easiest way to twist the cable freely would be from underneath?

    Speedo Bouncing under 20MPH

New yet annoying issue. The Speedo needle has started a bounce, I only see it at lower speeds, and only when just starting to drive the truck for the first 10 minutes or so. When slowing to a stop, the needle falls not a smoothly then bounces back up a few MPH. then when It should be zero it...

What tdc tool do y'all recommend?

In a pinch, I've made my own in the past. Butchered up an old spark plug. Put a bolt through and taped the bolt threads so it wouldn't scar the top of the piston. Worked pretty well. My last build i bought on off summit and it also worked great. It was like this one (not this actual one but...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

@idahovette I'm using a factory water temp gauge that I've fixed to the lower left gauge spot, this combo works great (very accurate) with this specific VDO sender. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vdo-323095 @HotRodPC rembering back and not able to physically look it over anymore, I think...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

Definitely let me know! Depending on time of year could even take out the quads and dirtbikes. See the more beautiful and unseen parts of the state. They did not go into much detail which makes me question if they actually bothered looking into it too much. However, the manual valve was all...

    Temp sensor broke...

With this new trans the testing of the temp sensor location might be skewed, but from what I've seen so far, the pan is by far the best place for a temp reading. I am getting better readings and like what was said above, the temp reading does seem to fall faster when using the electric fan that...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

Update on this for everyone. Got the truck back the 29th. I went ahead and had the shop just install their recommended rebuilt from a place called TRC transmissions up in Kent WA. Biggest factor of having them do it, is the 3 year unlimited mile warranty for parts and labor. So I should be...

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

@Giant Rock Thank you! Its been alot of work, and still is (getting a new trans atm and needing paint soon) I'm not sure about that kit in particular. Mine is 2" blocks in the rear (not the best) and some brand of aftermarket lift springs in the front (was on it when I bought it, but I think...

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

I have a 2" and 33x12.5 on 16.5s on my k20. I like it, it works well. But a 4" and 33s still looks good and would allow the right 35s if you wanted to change in the future. I do believe over 4" you'll have to change some steering parts. Gearing also would come into play with 35s.

    Manual transmission options

Wouldn't be cheap but if it were me. I'd look into adding a gear vendors unit off what you already have. Or. Also not cheap. Swap in a nv4500/nv3500. Give high-impact.net a look for complete swap kits. (being a k10 a nv3500 should live well enough I'd think)

Carb air cleaners, thermacs, and spacers

Alot of different styles available. Mine is even different then the ones 82shortbed listed. This is the one I'm using now with good results. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g1412 Before I had just an open aluminum one. I've read that the aluminum ones are not as great with insulating...

    Get That Snappy Fire Up

With Edelbrocks dont overlook a fuel pressure regulator. They are highly recommended by Edelbrock for all of their carbs. I believe they say 6.5 psi is max. I know it helped alot on mine.

Carb air cleaners, thermacs, and spacers

@SirRobyn0 I totally understand the simplest fix is the best 99.9% of the time. And in that regard agree whole heartedly. However, the other added benefits (not including any power gains) of a carb spacer are pretty desirable alone. Some people do say that they needed to mess with the carb...

Carb air cleaners, thermacs, and spacers

This is what I hear. I was able to tell more of a difference when I ran a open spacer on top of my dual place rpm performer and under my old 1406 even though edelbrock says not to (something about carb signals or something) Now I'm using a 4 hole spacer onto of that same intake and a 1405...

Carb air cleaners, thermacs, and spacers

Guess I've never had this problem. I've always ran at least a 1" spacer under the carb. Gains clearance for the filter base to dizzy. Also helps prevent vapor lock issues.

    700r4 locked up in gear.

It is hard to find a decent person to do work for you anymore. I'm tracking tho, and I agree. The place that has it currently is a general mechanic. And I'm thinking they know nothing of the inner workings of a transmission. Which explains why they dont rebuild them but want to sell me on...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

Ooooooo that never even crossed my mind.. I'm going to have to pay them an unexpected visit tomorrow and look it over. It was strange that they told me they'd have it in Monday or Tuesday. And I had to call them today and asked about it before I got ANY information. They were only supposed to...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

Got word today from the shop. Their exact words were "Man I dont know how to say this, but this thing is screwed. I have no idea what the shop that rebuilt this did to it. This part is NOT supposed to look like it does.... It needs either replaced or rebuilt." They dont rebuild transmissions...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

I'm also running LMC's set, with Sylvania Silverstars and LMC's relay kit. Fit is decent, they work great! Well worth the money imho.

    700r4 locked up in gear.

@Matt69olds thanks for all the help through this. I did exactly as you said when I dropped it off Wednesday. Today I ran them the new lubelocker and filter I had ordered for it. Chated with them a little. They said they'll need to pull the valve body to give me a full diagnosis (4 hours @$100...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

This is correct. Its a strange thing to experience much less for me to try and explain. Sorry about that. Edit: it physically won't shift into D or anything above it. And before it wouldn't physically fit into anything but D and N. Seems I somehow how the valve passed the blockage or hang and...

    700r4 locked up in gear.

Here's the video if it helps any (probably won't) I have a new gasket, and filter on the way. I could always toss in some fluid and run the shit out of it in hopes of dislodging whatever is hanging it up.

    700r4 locked up in gear.

The thing I am finding strange is that when it was stuck in drive this morning it shifted and acted normal except that I could only get D and N (manually shifting) if left to do its own thing in D, it hit all of the gears like it should. when screwing with the shifter and pulling the pan i...
