    700r4 locked up in gear.

referencing this thread which may or may not be related. I do not know enough about automatic tranmissions to determine if its the cause of this new problem. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/temp-sensor-broke.30638/page-2 Copy and paste from the other thread: Got home from work only able...

    Temp sensor broke...

The plot thickens.. got home from work only able to use D because the trans would not shift to anything else. I figured it was the linkage, pulled the bar off tried shifting it with the fork on the trans itself and low and behold, nothing.. Drained, took the pan off i was able to bounce it into...

    Temp sensor broke...

Currently, I do have the in radiator cooler hooked up. I was running without it and just to the Hayden 699 with the Derale pan. And with the sender in the test port (could have been the main problem) it was reading as described above. Which I felt was on the warm side of things being unloaded...

    Temp sensor broke...

That makes sense. And exactly what you guys said, the gauge took a while (20min) of highway driving to raise up to a 1/4 of the gauge. In heavier traffic it would rise pretty quickly from that to 1/2 to just under 3/4 (top being 250, and the gauge is quite accurate) and wouldnt really fall until...

    Temp sensor broke...

From what i understand (which isnt much about automatic transmissions) and @Matt69olds knows alot more about them then I do, it's mainly used for diagnostics, I also think there is a way to adjust a TV cable using that port to verify its setting via trans line pressure.

    Temp sensor broke...

I ended up plugging the test port. I will be running a different sender but it'll go in the pan instead of the test port. I figure its a better spot for it. Definitely less chance of getting screwed up like this one did. And hopefully I'll get a more accurate reading of thr fluid teml that the...

    Temp sensor broke...

That was the trick Matt. Did just like you said and at first no fluid at all came out. Then all of a sudden it must have cleared because I got alot of fluid. Shut er down and things look clear. Can't find the reminents amongst the gravel but im confident its all blown out. Added some fluid and...

    Temp sensor broke...

Thanks all! I should have mentioned this is in a 700r4. I thought about the reverse drill bit or even trying to use a core plug pull tool but figured the brass cap wouldn't hold up enough to actually pull it out. It is pretty stuck in there and I bet @Matt69olds is right, the end probably...

    Temp sensor broke...

I was in the process of relocating my trans temp sensor from the test port to the pan. Upon removing the sensor It was fully unthreaded and still would not just pull out. I kept threading it out thinking it was hung up a little. When it finally came out I noticed it wasent all there.. Upon...

    Rubber or poly bushings

I used the poly body mounts on a another car and it was miserable. It stiffened that connection point and didn't gain anything other then new bushings. Squaked occasionally which would be fixed with some poly grease but they'd need that about every year or so. So far I have poly for the sway...

    Rubber or poly bushings

This is what I did. Works well. I also used ORD's "fancy hybrid" leaf spring bushings that are something with Kevlar. Pretty decent so far.

Small 700r4 leak from shift shaft

I'll keep it as is until I get those parts and I'll investigate more while pulling that thing out. Worst case I'll order another lube locker gasket, filter and fluid and just change the fluid after the hot months are over and change the gasket while I'm at it. From what i can tell without...

Small 700r4 leak from shift shaft

I was thinking that as well. But last time I replaced it I used a very nice lube locker gasket and a good deep pan. It doesent lose much (havent had to put any fluid in) which is why I'm leaning more toward the shaft seal. Edit: I guess for $15 I can try it and see what I get.

Small 700r4 leak from shift shaft

See the photo. Is fixing this as easy as replacing the seal around the shaft? I ended up spending a whole $15 on a new seal and the special tool to pull the old on at Napa. Should get those next week. I'm just not sure if that's the real issue or if something else is going on here. The fluid I...

How to lean a Edelbrock 1406?

@82sbshortbed and @dsteelejr 82 shortbed is right, I use the rear passenger side breather hole as an oil fill. I pull it out and add through there. Works well but can sometimes make a mess. I have seen some completely sealed valve covers but I dont think you would want to run those unless you...

How to lean a Edelbrock 1406?

I used this one from summit for the lid. Keyword is a spun aluminum lid. I did have to file some sharper edges down which wasent a big deal. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all26090 They have lowers as well but im only running a 14"x3" round paper filter with a outerwear pre filter. My...

How to lean a Edelbrock 1406?

I second the importance of a regulator on these. I went with the holley type, a gauge and an fitting in my whatever fuel line thing with a in line filter. I didnt run a T like dsteer explains tho. I figure the pump has a return to send any extra fuel back to the tank and the regulator will just...

How to lean a Edelbrock 1406?

I've always struggled with this as well. And have always had the edelbrocks. From what I understand, those two front screws only adjust the idle circuit. As for adjusting the running circuits you'll want this kit for all the parts needed to make those adjustments...

    Pulling Steering Wheel

I ended up buying one on Amazon. Was about $30 if I remember right. Great tool to have in the garage. Sits right next to my core plug install tool set.

    700R4 Rebuild cost

My area is probably a bit high for pricing. But the full service and upgrading. Was $3600.00. This was towing the complete truck in and just throwing money at them when my front pump took a shit.

Low hanging fruit to improve performance - request for input

A full tune up can do wonders. New plugs, wires, filters then normal maintenance things like check the timing, dizzy, coil. That will at least give you a solid baseline to build off of.

Filling a k10 wheel well, best wheel to tire ratio

I think if your wanting the tall and skinny look a 12.5" wide might be too much. Once I wear out these tires I'm planning on going to 305x70r16 still keep the near 33 tall yet a bit skinnier then the 12.5s. Your wheel width will also play in a little. Fireturck's 33x10.5 above look really good...

Filling a k10 wheel well, best wheel to tire ratio

Here a picture of mine with the 33x12.5 0n 16.5s truck has 2" or so of lift. Second picture is the same truck with 265x75x16 (summer tires for now) definately look a bit goofy compared to the 33s. I'm not sure if the year differences make an impact on this or not. Probably it being a k20...

    EPM Machine, Portland, OR

It is and I was always a little confused why he doesent advertise at all. He operates out of his shop behind his house, and it seems more of a personal hobby that he enjoys more then needs to do for money. So I really have no idea. He does seem to stay fairly steady with work for "word of mouth"...
