Just curious.
Sweet smell that sticks on the back of your throat is unburned fuel. Coolant smells sweet too but different. The unburned charge is pushed out of the cylinder at the exhaust stroke and leaves thru the exhaust pipe as smoke. It's good that your engine is running better with all cylinders firing.- ali_c20

Valve cover bolts won't stay snug.
Try load spreaders, they are like big springs and reduce the risk that you kink the valve cover. Google for valve cover hold down tabs. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-es72676- ali_c20

Hi. No you can't cause the C20 spindle has a thicker shaft and needs bigger wheel bearings as the C10 one.- ali_c20

Crate SBC 350 installation plan
Sounds like a good plan to me. I would install the dipstick tube and cooler lines before you put it all in. Just take care that the lines don't get caught or pinched during installation. Exhaust manifolds and everything else after. My 0,02$- ali_c20

Where to buy stock mechanical fuel pump that isn't trash?
I had luck with Carter so far. Fuel pressure is ~ 6-7. I run a pressure regulator with gauge on my trucks to be safe and easy checking the fuel pressure.- ali_c20
