What new tools have you got lately?

That's really nice, twice the mandrels that are in my Astro kit. :pimp: I don't know if you've used one of those before but I learned that when setting a nut you do not completely close the handles, only squeeze far enough to set the nut. Closing the handles all the way usually goes beyond the...

    454 ACDelco water pump

Everyone has a store preference, I like O’Reilly’s while lots of folks like NAPA. When I built my 454 I bought a new pump from O’Reilly’s. Personally, I view Autozone as a last resort. AZ typically has cheap parts and (locally) a completely useless staff.

    454 ACDelco water pump

The belt set up pictured should be standard rotation, there is a multi groove belt there but it's not routed like a true reverse rotation serpentine belt. As far as long and short pumps, that is a real thing however the set up pictured is a long type. The short pumps were 60's applications...

    Frame dimensions

'88+ C30 trucks should be the newer GMT400 body style which uses a completely different frame, my vote says it's not even close.

Where to buy fusable links for repair

I bought one at O’Reilly’s, you just need to know what size wire you’re working with.

    What are these for?

It’s a reinforced area of the wheel well, they are not serviced separately.

    steering knuckles

Steering knuckles on 1 ton axles are completely different and do not begin to interchange with a 1/2 or 3/4 ton axle.

A very expensive and dumb mistake (update I was wrong)

All 14 bolts are offset like that and are in literally millions of squares. Don’t sweat it and run it. Just to say it out loud, since the spring perches have been moved you might double check to make sure the housing (not the pinion) is centered under the springs.

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

Help me with the diesel / oil / trans fluid deck treatment... To me this would take a very long time before the deck would be dry to the touch. At the very least, I would worry about getting any amount of oil on my shoes and tracking it around plus I've used my trailer deck as a work bench for...

Spark plug gap closed fresh rebuild

@Cdog_96 Glad it's running good now. Just to say it, while setting the timing are you disconnecting the wire by the harness bulkhead connector down below the wiper motor / master cylinder? (I think it's tan /white stripe)

Best Locker for 14Bolt FF in 85 K30

I ran a Detroit Locker in my old K10 and later moved it to my crew cab, I loved it. I'd buy another one.

    Whatcha do with that...?

I don't keep much anymore, I find that a lot of it just ends up being clutter. I really only keep things that have "extra" value for me like mini starters (as opposed to regular), shifters, yokes, locking hubs (Spicer), etc. I do keep a lot of hardware (new & used) and also have a habit of...

Need correct core support if my headlights are "dual headlights" with the high under the lowbeams or is dual side by side?

For dual headlight set ups, side by side vs top and bottom depends on the year. Horizontal and vertical dual set ups were not both available for a given year. It sounds like you’re wanting to convert to a dual light set up from a different year than you currently have. You need to identify...

    Cruisin the Coast 2024

I walked around Ocean Springs and the Long Beach today, lots of amazing cars and trucks! I didn’t see @Redfish truck but there’s so many it’s easy to miss stuff. I’m heading back to Long Beach tomorrow with my Blazer for a full size truck gathering (“Trucks n Tacos”).

    Msd 8207

No, the 8207 doesn’t require a box but the wiring sources are different with vs without. I use a 6AL box which supplies the + and - leads for the coil so I didn’t have to find sources from the truck. As for my wiring, I have a secondary fuse block that supplies the constant and ignition 12v...

    Passenger side axle stuck

Good lawd, look at the end of those splines. :emotions122::oops: I highly doubt you get your money back on that since it’s obvious you tried to hammer the wrong part in place. In the future, if parts don’t go together, take a minute to double check everything. Ask for help, something. During...

    Fuel return diy

I really think the brass fitting in the hose will leak. Find a piece of tubing the correct size, put a nipple in the side and splice it in to the vent hose. I think someone actually makes a tube like I described but I can’t remember who it was.
