What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

Boy, I like that truck. Wish that I had enough time left to build one. I wonder what a 11 foot step side would look like? This is one of my 1954 one tons with the 9' box.

    Step Side Tail Lights+Brackets+Wiring

Looking for late model [1981-1987] step side square tail lights and all the associated brackets and wiring. I know they make aftermarket, but I'm a fanatic about originality. Ted, any of these square hole gas filler doors come through your place?

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

My apology, I thought you were talking about step sides beds, also known by the moniker LNB or SNB. Don't know why they are called narrow, as both step side and fleetside beds are the exact same dimensions of 50" wide for the interior bed width, and 79.6" wide exterior at the fenders. Maybe it's...

    Buss Bar?

Welcome to the forum from N. Texas! If all those things are no longer working, perhaps the bus bar is for all the grounds for the various circuits?

Keep in touch next time you're in the area. We've got some good BBQ places out here in the boonies.

Welcome to the forum from N. Texas! Great looking rig. I concur with the comments about the stance. Sometimes just a tire size change will give the truck a radically different look. Not the wheel size, just a little taller and meatier chunk of rubber. Where in VA? I've got good friends in...

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

The only problem you would have is to find LNB steps to cut down for your 7' bed. No one that I know about reproduces the long bed step, and they are really tough to find (ask me how I know). I suppose you could fab them out of 2 of the new SNB steps, but not sure if there is enough meat to make...

    New member. 87 V20 Stepside

Welcome to the forum! The last year for "true" step side trucks was 1987. The later sport side trucks are birth defects. Very nice find, complete with the original wheel covers. Did it come off one of the ranches around Buffalo? Last time I was there, we ate at the "Bozeman Trail" Steak...

    88 C30 by Trailwagons

Welcome from N. Texas! Very nice looking truck. Love the oak trim on the console and door panels. Does it have the full wood overlay for the dash panel?

    85 GMC crew cab

While pulling my car hauler with a '75 1/2 ton on it, an eighteen wheeler lost a tire tread. Didn't see it in time to swerve, and it bounced up and cut the wiring under the trailer, losing the turn signals/brake lights on the rear of the trailer. Had to keep the 7 way plugged in for the trailer...

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Go in with an offer of $750. He can only say no. As you make the offer, make sure he can see the $100 bills in a bank envelope, It's amazing what a stack of $100 bills will do to a guy!

    1980 GMC C-3500

I hadn't noticed those until you pointed them out. Sharp eyes. Were those an option in 1980, or part of one of the upgrade options?

Looking for an odd sized wheel, and don't know where to look for it.

Ayden, Check with Discount Tire. I know they have a national site. I bought some 16" trailer rims in that pattern, or maybe 5 on 5". Anyway, they weren't too pricey, maybe $45-50 each. It's an unusual size in 16", so wrecking yards and CL may be iffy. I did the same thing you're trying, and...

    1980 GMC C-3500

This truck showed up today at the local tire shop in Sanger, TX (76266). One photo didn't take for some reason. Truck has a full steel flatbed mounted to the chassis, with correct (?) dually bed strapped on the rear. Tire guy said it has a 454, and supposedly runs well. I don't know the owner...

    Transmission Vendor Recommendations

As someone said earlier on the forum, the adjustment of the kickdown cable is the most important part of the re-build process. I assume that the shop did the complete remove and re-install?

This photo shows what I've always used in a bench seat square. Photo is from @burbboysgc photo album. Always worked for me to catch all the misc. crap we think we have to carry with us.

Welcome from N. Texas! 5 or 6 lugs=1/2 ton. 8 lug=3/4 or 1 ton, unless someone has changed out the axles.

    Importance of charcoal (Evap) canister

I ordered one of the canisters, but is not the same PN, nor the correct number of ports that most of my trucks use. Is yours (or mine before I send it back) strictly for carb equipped vehicles 1986 and earlier? Most of my trucks are 1988 and on, all with TBI.
