Beautiful. I always wanted an Autocar or a Marmon as a play toy. Then I got old!

Normally, the hitch, sometimes wiring to the rear of the vehicle (bare wires, not a plug), and an oil cooler up front.

    towing rig

Tim, Let me throw some numbers at you for your consideration. I just received a 1989 GM Trailering guide, to use as a guide for the restoration of my 1991 Suburban V-1500. I'm going to assume the '89 figures for trucks would be the same (or in the ballpark) for your 1987 K30. I have been heavy...

    towing rig

Tim, 2 Questions for you: 1. Is your K30 SRW or DRW? 2. How many axles on the 30' GN, and or the GVWR of the trailer?

    Ontario canada

Welcome from N. Texas! Cherish that 1983 GMC grille. As far as I've seen, no one makes a repo for them, so they are more scarce than frogs teeth!

Seat For 87 Square in Australia

Did the Royal Australian Military use British vehicles exclusively, or did they venture out to purchase from other markets? Perhaps there is a government graveyard of vehicles that you could scrounge from?

    Square body meet Richmond Indiana

I never realized they used Radial engines in US Army WWII battle tanks! I had always assumed they used automotive type engines. You've got some very nifty toys to play with!

    Transmission Vendor Recommendations

Jakes's Transmissions in Bridgeport, TX. Builds racing transmissions, but also does stock rebuilds. Personal friend of mine, also a sandbox Vet. He just did my TH400 for my '86 3/4 ton stepper. (940) 488-1018 or (940) 488-1031.

    Square body meet Richmond Indiana

Would sure like to hear about the radial engines you work on! The old T-29's I used to fly early in my career had R-2800-99 in them.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

Beautiful Stepside truck. Has anyone ever seen a stepside (Short or Long) with a two tone paint scheme? I know some of the late 70's early '80's had striping packages.

    Brush Guard, watchu tink?

My vote is put it on as is. I've replaced my grille on the '88 Jimmy more than once due to birds hitting the plastic while driving on our farm roads.

Shoot, there's enough scrap metal in that bed to pay for the entire truck + shipping.

New Member - 88 Suburban in Arkansas

Welcome from N. Texas! I found this PDF file on GM RPO codes some time ago. Maybe it will help you match the codes on the glovebox decal to English.

    got wood?

I also like the woodgrain. I remember as a kid in the late 40's and early '50's all the real wood vehicles still on the road. Of all your pictures, my favorite is the round eye Suburban. Looks like all the various makes of station wagons in the late '50's and early '60's.

    New from Virginia

Welcome from N. Texas! Where are you located in SW VA? I was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital right after the war. My dad was stationed at Langley field, flying P-47's. My mom told the story of that trip with all the drawbridges. She said it was lucky they were all down, otherwise I would...

    G80 Gear Oil?

I don't know if the Valvoline gear oil has the anti-friction modifier in the formula, but it's very cheap to add that 8oz bottle.
