    Sheered upper control arm bolt

Yeah I don't have a business acct so I can only order thru Fastenal website and local pickup and their website has nothing similar I can find. Tried going to AutoZone, O'Reilly's, and advanced auto and checked summit website. Nothing. Called Chevy dealership, called a Chevy old school part...

    Sheered upper control arm bolt

LMC = 10 days :grimace: Can't find a pick n pull that has a squarebody either. Called the local junkyards and they aren't pick n pull and won't sell me the damn stud. Thinking about going up and finding a grade 8 bolt of same diameter to hold me over for 10 days, convince me not to...

    Sheered upper control arm bolt

Thanks, yeah they didn't budge at all until they did and then it shot out of the back lol. I got frustrated after I posted and started smacking the **** out of it, always a good way to fix things. I keep reading online from others they got the wrong size stud from LMC and the shipping is more...

    Sheered upper control arm bolt

I pulled in the driveway this morning heard a loud pop and the truck shifted so I knew I was in for a fun day. Got everything pulled off and found the stud that the upper control arm mounts to was completely sheered. Was able to rescue the shims and everything. I'm about to start hammering...

    '87 TBI lurching and surging

One if the problems was it would only happen in gear. I couldn't get it in gear and test or observe anything at the same time. Running a solo operation lol

    '87 TBI lurching and surging

I still haven't found the cause, checked all tubes all connections everything looks good. In my annoyance I decided to drive it further to see if it would stall out. When I got home I realized the lights were dimming at the same time the lurching and surging was happening. I parked and turned...

    '87 TBI lurching and surging

Haven't seen any but I will check the codes again. I was thinking misfire but then after it happens I put it in park and sit there and the idle just climbs and climbs then drops and does it again. Just noticed that

    '87 TBI lurching and surging

I thought about the fuel pump but I have factory dual tanks and both were behaving this way. I haven't pulled the tanks before but each one should have it's own pump so I think I ruled that out. I'll look up how to test the injectors

    '87 TBI lurching and surging

'87 R10 TBI. About 2 days ago I started feeling the truck seeming to misfire when not giving it gas but still in gear. Yesterday it started "lurching" after it had been running for a bit. Starting up was fine, in gear it would feel like it was missing gas then it got a double shot of gas...

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

Right but moog only sells the upper control arm fully loaded from what summit says. Had to buy the lower control arm pieces separately

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

Yep comes with ball joints and bushings already installed. It was almost the same price and the parts individually

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

I was looking at replacing just the bushings but the upper control arm whole assy is only like $80. Does this seem correct for driver side? I'm going to do both sides but figured I should buy the driver side first and make sure it all fits since summit is right down the road. This seems...

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

Thanks this is what I was thinking as well, while I am in there with stuff apart I wanted a checklist of stuff to go ahead and replace. As far as the coil springs themselves my only thing is I've never done this before and working with the springs gives me a bit of concern for safety. I'm...

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

Hey all I've got an '87 tbi R10 and the frontend suspension needs to be rebuilt. Currently the driver side tire seems to have a fair amount of slack in it left to right. What all components should I replace while I'm going to be in there? Is there any kind of suggest kit out there for stock...

    Diagnosing white smoke on startup

Ill try to get a better one but it almost looks like that hose is directly connected to a nipple to me. I don't see room between it and the cover for a PCV valve to be there which is what was throwing me off, I expected to see it right there

    Diagnosing white smoke on startup

If it is the valve guides and seals I'm assuming that would be oil burning. It only seems to smoke in the morning when I have not run the truck overnight and it cools down so that would make sense. It is about 107 here everyday right now so presumably in the cooler temp it is allowing oil to...

    Diagnosing white smoke on startup

For what it's worth I don't think it is coolant, but I am not 100% sure. I checked the radiator and the reservoir and levels are good. I can try to leave the cap half on but I'm assuming if that was the issue it would take a few days to be able to tell?
