Below is a detailed write up of installing the Dakota Digital HDX gauge cluster in a 1990 Suburban. The information is based off of what I did to accomplish the install and the things I learned along the way. I'm sure there a few other ways to accomplish this and I'm sure I did some things...

Have you had a chance to sit in them? Wonder how comfy they are. Not that I road trip any of my squares but would need to be cushy :D

    S10 Blazer Butchery

Betting that 5 speed is what is bringing down those production numbers :) Although, being 2wd is kinda odd to figure out too so who knows lol

    S10 Blazer Butchery

Either way, keep those ZR2 stickers and fender flares just to mess with people because most equate a ZR2 with being 4x4

    Tach Signal

sorry to bump an older thread but I want to get clarification because I was searching the forum for this answer. Andy, are you saying the tach signal comes from that connection I circled in red? The white wire seems to come out of the distributor into connector 1 and out of connector 2. I’m...

    Speed sensor question — 700R4

Gotcha. Thank you for the info. Your set up and mine should be pretty much identical with mine being a 90/350/700R4, also. Appreciate the insight. I'll let you know how things progress this week :)

    Speed sensor question — 700R4

I assume your solution was on your 90 Blazer with the 350 or was it on another square? Yeah, Mine is very similar. My model is HDX but my DD box looks very similar to that. With the instructions also come with the below as posted earlier. So long story short, I know a speed output signal comes...

    Speed sensor question — 700R4

So you can't go straight from the DRAC to the DD box to get the speed output? According to the pinout info I'm finding that is the light blue/black stripe wire coming out of the C15 port on the DRAC.

    Speed sensor question — 700R4

Once I finally figured out which way was up with the speed sensor issue it was time for the next thing so I wasn't able to circle back around to it. With that said, my two oldest boys are out of town this week so that means no baseball this week so I'm planning on parking the burb in the garage...

Got. 1990 2wd Burb. I believe these came stock with 700R4. Anyhoot, finally getting around to installing my Dakota Digital gauges and immediately came upon a road block. First picture is what I believe is my speed sensor location. Is that correct? Well, my issue is this is the Dakota Digital...

    Outside door handle rod

Absolutely agree! When I first got my Dually 4 1/2 years ago I decided to replace all 4 handles. I bought new, OEM handles from Rock Auto. If you think the normal doors are a pain in the neck (They ARE) don't ever attempt the rear doors on a 3+3 or Suburban :banghead: I ended up doing 3 of the 4...

    Rear diff vent tube

I would imagine some moisture could sneak in there, yes. My plan is to replace the vent tube and put new diff fluid in. Probably after my gauge install because I’ve been putting that off long enough and this issue isn’t pressing for me yet. So I’m aiming for beginning or middle of June.
