My teenager's first small block build

Sounds like we are both on the same path. That is really cool. One of the thing's that I hope my daughter learns from this is the cost value of time vs. money if that makes sense. In a world where these kids are used to pushing a button on their phone or computer and whatever they need is...

My teenager's first small block build

Thanks. I'll take a look again. It seemed really clean when I looked it over the other day.

My teenager's first small block build

It's been a while since I've built a traditional SBC and the number of head choices out there are staggering. I had never considered going the Vortec route. But, we will definitely look in to it. Thanks.

My teenager's first small block build

Picked up the block this morning. Casting #3970010. ID from the stamp pad K0327TBF. I'm a little confused by the TBF suffix code. From what I am finding online, it could either be a '70 or '79. Not that it matters, but if anyone can tell me for sure, I would appreciate it. I am assuming...

My teenager's first small block build

That's a great story. It is really cool that you developed such good memories from that experience. I'm hoping that my daughter does the same. I agree on developing a plan from now. My daughter is already researching rotating assembly kits on places like Summit. I don't mind her looking at...

My teenager's first small block build

We are going to start with a completely bare block. So, we will be buying everything. Could definitely consider a 383.

    The last pre-emmisions diesel

Wow, I can't believe that I missed this thread when you first posted it. Glad to see that you joined the 3rd gen Cummins family. I have a 2007 5.9L 6-speed. It was an October 2006 build. I purchased it new in May of 2007. I will continue to fix mine as long as I can still turn a wrench. I...

My teenager's first small block build

As I've mentioned in other threads here, I have a 16 year old daughter that just loves working with me on all things automotive. She was very hands on this year working on my Corvette, getting it ready for a trip to the track, etc. That project didn't really need too much and we have been...

Is anyone having any luck buying a vehicle from Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace right now?

Well another day, another disappointment. A '74 Camaro popped up on Facebook Marketplace late yesterday afternoon that I was interested in. I messaged the seller, got their number, talked to the guy and set up for 4:30 this afternoon after work to look at it. Called around 3:00 to get...

What are the chances of finding your vehicle again. I hope it works out for you.

    Can't get shit for supplies!

I'm waiting on parts for two vehicles as we speak. Fuel tank strap for one and a power steering line for another.

    99 tahoe shorty

That thing is beautiful underneath. Do you have any idea how jealous us guys from the North East are when we see something in that condition.

Picked up this little low profile jack at Harbor Freight today. Nice little unit for the price.

    2021 Ford Ranger

Yes, 2.3L turbo 4/10-speed auto. We did not have the opportunity to look at a comparable Colorado. Simply no crew cabs in stock locally only a couple of extended cabs. We did look at a both a Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma. This one ended up being the one that both my wife and daughter...

    2021 Ford Ranger

Due to a few circumstances and one of our daily drivers unable to pass inspection and another being on the lift more than it is on the road, we found ourselves looking for another vehicle. We wanted something in the mid size range again. It is replacing a 2004 Dodge Dakota that has served us...

is this 79 rare? should i restore or restor-mod?

I agree with the above. I would want to keep that one close to original.

What new tools have you got lately?

OK, so I'm not one to cheap out on tools. But, I went to Harbor Freight to pick up the cheapest drill that I could find to polish a set of wheels I picked up on Ebay and not use one of my good drills. $14 "Drill Master" survived 4+ hours of torture. Got really hot a couple of times but never...

    Just got a 2010 Camaro LS V6

If driven several modern V6 and turbo 4cyl Camaros. Very, very good running cars. I wouldn't hesitate buying either one.

Any L98 350 People Here? I have a fuel pressure question

I also picked up 2 spare OEM 16x8.5 wheels off of Ebay. They need a good cleaning/polishing. But, should shine up well with a little work. I have a plan for these wheels, but will detail that if/when the tires I ordered actually show up.

Any L98 350 People Here? I have a fuel pressure question

Last weekend I gave it a good old fashioned tuneup. Just typical ignition stuff, cap, rotor, etc. I also swapped out the coil and ignition module. It appears that everything was the original 34 year old parts. Replaced them with ACDelco parts.

Any L98 350 People Here? I have a fuel pressure question

Yes, the early C4's used that digital dash display. It is sometimes referred to as the "Space Invaders" dash, after the old video game. This blog has a nice overview of how the dash designs evolved over the years...
