    Nice 70 C20

Saw this outside the Turkey Inn in Ramona Ca Saturday night. It sounded really nice when he left.

    Intake for bbc 454

3 different size intake ports. Large Rectangle, 2 sizes oval ports. Large oval ports and the peanut ports. A regular oval port intake will work on a peanut port head, just half of the port is covered because of how small the ports are. Peanut ports were used 1985 and later. You can find out...

    Stop Leak In Radiator

Removed the thermostat and heater hoses, flushed backwards and forwards, this is what came out of the first 2 cups of water on the backflush. I'm soaking in a light solution of water/vinegar and will reflush in a couple of hours. So far no leaks inside which is a very good sign and water appears...

    Stop Leak In Radiator

Thanks for the info all. Good stuff. I'm also thinking changing the intake may have contributed, even tho I covered the ports. Hard to get it 100% clean in the backyard.

    Stop Leak In Radiator

That's basically what I'm going to try. I've heard sometimes it works sometimes not. What may help is the radiator is relatively new, just the heater core appears to be plugged.

    Stop Leak In Radiator

Yeah it's a BBC but probably around that pressure. I was going to put a valve on one end to fluctuate the stream but on 2nd thought I don't think I will. Too much of a chance of over pressurizeing the core.

    Stop Leak In Radiator

Don't know Rusty, I'll let you know. Do you miss a lot? Once this rain/ snow stops I'll try the flush and see how much stopleak is actually in there.

    Stop Leak In Radiator

Thanks. It isn't possible, too far and not enough hoses. I read online that a 50-50 mix of white vinegar and water loosens calcium but also read that it damages joints and there is no info on stop leak removal. I'm going to go easiest first, drain, remove thermostat, then backflush heater core...

    Stop Leak In Radiator

The heater core seems to be plugged up after replacing the intake manifold. The truck had stop leak in it when I bought it and I added some to get it home due to a leak at the heater hose inlet. I'm going to try to back flush but has anyone successfully gotten stop leak out of a heater core and...

Q jet rear vacuum break diaphragm linkage

Ok, learned that simple isn't in the cards, no way to see or even feel where this goes when carb is installed. I found out that when I re-piped the heat tubes (I changed from a high rise to the stock manifold) one pressed on the linkage and when the linkage moved pushed it out. Installation...

Q jet rear vacuum break diaphragm linkage

Thanks for the reply but it's the other end of the link that's out. That pic is prior to removal and rebuild just to show the linkage had been disconnected for some reason. I put it all back. Gonna get a mirror and lots of light, stand on my head and see if I can get it back. If not it's remove...

Q jet rear vacuum break diaphragm linkage

When I pulled the carb for a rebuild I noticed this linkage was not connected at the diaphragm (see attached pic), I rebuilt it and reassembled it with the linkage connected to the cam follower under the thermostatic coil in the only hole possible. It just fell out of the cam follower and is no...

    Intake is Outgoing

The manifold that dsteelejr sent me works awesome. It's installed and the truck is running great. Idle is just a bit high but not enough to worry about and I think it will settle in once the rebuilt carb gets a little worn in. Lots of lessons learned such as at 75 the difference between the...

    What is this Fitting?

Pretty sure it's called a thermal ported vacuum switch. I'm transferring mine to dsteelejr's manifold which arrived today. Thanks again!! As stated above it opens when hot and provides vacuum when engine is up to temp. If you need more info I'll let you know for sure when I start putting mine...

    Intake is Outgoing

dsteelejr, I checked the head casting numbers and they are peanut. This manifold will fit and all fittings match what I need. If your offer still stands let me know what you need in order to ship it. REALLY appreciate it! Jim

    Intake is Outgoing

I hope so, I'll find out for sure tomorrow. Chevy didn't go back to the large ovals till then but evidently LOTS of backyard mechanics did and I was told the top end of this one was done not too long ago.

    Intake is Outgoing

Yeah, Chevy cornered the market on rubber tubing this year. Gonna pop a valve cover tomorrow to see what heads I have. Hopefully I can get an intake, the one that's on it currently is just cold patched. I've memorized all the lines so I don't have to mark them. (Yeah Sure!)

    Intake is Outgoing

dsteelejr Let me pop a valve cover and see what heads I have. Any idea of shipping costs? This would be great if it fits. I've read you can interchange square/oval but not peanut. Then again I've read you can interchange all three with the correct gaskets. Without any knowledge whatsoever, I...

Yep, gonna pop the valve covers and get the casting numbers prior to buying anything.
