    EGR Valve Question

    EGR Valve Question

you don't need an EGR spacer that I am aware of. but there are different EGR valves that work on positive or negative pressure. it is critical that you get the correct application for your year/engine and I would get an AC Delco one to make sure it is correct.

    700R4 wont shift into 3rd

I'd try adjusting the TV cable 1 more time. or at least manipulating the throttle at the carb instead of using the gas pedal to set the tension. I believe the manual calls for it to be adjusted at the carb/throttle body and not by the gas pedal. and check the fluid again. if all that checks...

    Evaporative emissions equipment

make sure the lines are hooked up correctly at the cannister and throttle body. gas cap is supposed to have a check valve in it to relieve pressure or vacuum. so it could be a bad cap.

    Pulling all the smog stuff

i think TBI only sets a check engine code if the O2 is open (no sensor) or if it goes extremely lean or extremely rich, I believe. but I think the moral of the story is that it is probably best to keep running it as GM intended.

    Pulling all the smog stuff

an 87 TBI will have a downstream O2 sensor.

    Sea Foam

I've been trying to clean the carbon out of my 350 TBI engine, because i think it is the cause of a random miss at idle and occassional missing under light load. I've been doing a pretty steady diet of Redline SI-1 in a maintenance dose for the last few months and used AC Delco top end engine...

    Windshield Wiper Pulse Issue

yep. parking has nothing to do with the pulse module. the park switch is in the motor. time for a motor replacement. several, including me have had good luck with WAI brand.

    Center Dash Head Unit

They make single DIN head units with big touch screens that are somewhat adjustable in angle and vertical position. I've thought about one for my 90 because it was DIN from the factory. But the large price tag has kept me using my existing single DIN head unit bc it already has blue tooth...

    Spark plug wires

last set I got was from Oreilly's according to my email. they fit ok, definitely not custom. i just replace the wires one at a time and use the closest length new one. My OEM wire holders are long gone, so I just ziptie them up out of the way of things. ACDelco Spark Plug Wire Set | ACD 9618V...

and should be a low hump, too! but not sure how the back carpet would work out? could be the same dimensions to the back wall of the crew as to the metal where the rear seat hinges are on the burb?

    1982 Tailgate Stuck Down

section 10A5 of the service manual (at least for my 1990) covers all things end gate. seems like it is possible to break it down with the window down. I'd check out the 1982 service manual and see what you can find out. in the Reference Library if this forum.

    Timing advancing too far

TPS voltage is a tad high, but likely not causing you any issues. You can slightly bend the tab to lower the voltage to a little closer to 0.5v at idle, but not critical. IAC counts seem high for sitting at 195deg temp and warmed up. You may try a reset on it. Jumper A and B on the ALDL with a...

    Another "Dies at stoplights" Issue

it's a game changer for diagnostics. TBI can still benefit from some old school mechanics (vac gauge, etc), but being able to see what the computer sees is huge to make sure all the sensors are working properly.

    Another "Dies at stoplights" Issue

i recommend getting ALDLDroid and a Bluetooth ALDL cable to see what the computer sees. it's a minor investment for near-scan tool capabilities that will make diagnostics on TBI much easier. that and the drivability and emissions manual in the reference library of this forum. It is like the...
