    Ring and Pinion Numbers Mystery

I would agree, can't see any evidence of wear. Just curious on the numbers. Thanks

Not from manufacturer...meaning someone has installed them? They were purported to be NOS. Hmmm.

    Ring and Pinion Numbers Mystery

Looking for help interpreting numbers on a Motive Gear gm10.5-373 gearset. I'm wondering what the numbers that are hand added mean? Ring gear has 0,08" Pinion has 2,190" Assuming that the comma is being used as a period, what do these numbers mean? Thanks!

    Leaf Spring Plastic Pieces

Thanks...do most people leave them out or just reuse the old ones?

    Ring and Pinion Question

This might be a dumb question but I assume there's a point where a ring gear and pinion set is too worn? I'm swapping in a used set of 3.73 gears into a 14 bolt FF and can't get a good tooth pattern. I'm no where near a gear expert but the pattern I'm getting would indicate fewer pinion shims...

    Leaf Spring Plastic Pieces

Is there a source for the plastic pieces that go between leaf spring assemblies and the axle/mounting bracket? I've circled the items in the picture below. I've got the originals but they're not in good shape. I think the same pieces are used on rear leaf springs as well. 1985 K20 frame.

    Backing Plates Question

I am in the process of swapping in 13 inch JB7 rear brakes onto a 14 bolt ff and found that the 1987 parts truck from which I'm getting the brake parts appears to have been using two left side backing plates. Or at least I assume that they are the same as far as the hole for the parking brake...

    New Wheel Studs or Reuse?

Working my way through rebuilding a corporate 10-bolt front axle and now installing new brake rotors (reusing original hubs). What's the general recommendation, always go with new wheel studs or reuse previous if they still have good thread and knurling? Thanks!

    Ball Joints Too Tight

In the process of rebuilding a 10-bolt front axle for my 4WD project and have the problem of the new ball joints being too tight on one side. Ball joints are new AC Delco professional or whatever the higher grade is called. I've followed the instructions in the service manual to first partially...

2WD to 4WD frame swap. Is it really that simple??? Help me out!

I'm in the process of doing the same swap for my 83 3/4 ton. I'm up in Wisconsin, but have been surprised by the number of decent frames that I've come across on FB Marketplace even being in the rust belt. I had brought home an immaculate 75 frame but was a little concerned about the 73-80 vs...

    Rear Leaf Load Rating Question

Thanks. Upon closer inspection, it would appear that they started life as 6/1 springs and someone added two leafs (leaves?) at some point. I'm going to check the arch to see if it's still around 4.75" which is specificied for the 6/1 sets.

    Rear Leaf Load Rating Question

Hello, picked up the springs and they are 52". As far as restoring them, what's the best way to separate the leaves to derust and paint etc? Is there a good thread on this board somewhere? Thanks

    Rear Leaf Load Rating Question

Thanks for the replies so far. I've got a 14-bolt full floater that will be the rear axle. Owner says that they are 52" springs, but will take along my measuring tape to make sure. Either way it sounds like they'll provide the hauling capacity for the truck.

    Rear Leaf Load Rating Question

I found these rear springs for sale locally and think they'd be good for my K20 project...I'm converting a 1985 K10 frame to K20 and trying to max out the load rating for use around the farm. They are 52" springs, which will fit the K10 frame that came with 52's so I won't have to move the rear...

    Transmission Hump Questions

Hopefully I'm not beating a long-dead horse, but I have a couple of questions relating to converting an 83 2WD cab with AT column shift to 4WD with AT column shift. 1. Are all removable transmission tunnel covers the same? Or are there differences between 73-80 and 81-83. 2. Which would be...

    WTB P30 19.5 wheels

No, they aren't split rims. Look like your average dually rim with hand holes. Same bolt pattern as square bodies as I run 16.5 wheels from the 80s on the 59 truck that I was going to convert to a dually.

    WTB P30 19.5 wheels

Chevy used 8 lug 19.5 wheels for duals on 1-ton trucks from 1955 until late 60s? Not sure when they stopped. I've got 4 and a spare from a 1958 truck. Where are you located?

    Differential Kit Opinions

Hello folks, planning to rebuild a 14 bolt full float rear axle and 10 bolt front axle as part of my 4x4 project. Looking for some input and opinions on the various bearing kits on the market, specifically those from DT, Motive Gear, and Richmond Gear. These three all seem to be similar in...

    LMC Parts

Hey folks, just looking for opinions on parts from LMC Truck. Specifically wondering how mechanical parts such as brake hoses, spring shackles/bushings, and such compare to what's available from NAPA and OReilly's? For example I noticed that LMC brake hoses are half the price of NAPA, seems a...
