    Wiring harness options

I've done 20 or more full rewires with American Autowire and would not use another. Also, their dealers have stock on ebay if AA doesn't have your kit in stock. Sometimes you can save money on ebay too, and still get the exact full AA kit. They had trouble during the pandemic keeping up with...

Looks familiar. I removed the extra stuff, but have not had the head off. Rebuilt the carb too. Yes, It runs great (only about 85K miles), but I'm now building a 350 for the truck. It runs so nice, the 350 may never make it.

Custom ignition switch not on column

The stock "ignition switch" is not behind the key. It is down below on top of the column, about 5" from the firewall. A rod from the key assembly goes down the top of the column and operates the switch. If you grab the 4 wires off that switch, you can run them to a new added on switch, but, I...

    Pulling all the smog stuff

One thing to watch out for- If your catalyst gets a load of rich mixture, It will burn up and melt. The melting blocks your exhaust and you will lose massive power. The smog pump adds air to the exhaust to complete combustion in the manifolds and partially prevents this. So, pulling all the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Tried to replace the motor mounts under my 6 cylinder today. Drivers side, first Nut underneath just spun with the bolt. As that was the first of 6 bolts, and this mount looked really bad, I think someone bailed on this repair some time ago. I bailed too. Will have to wait for the new motor...

What have you done to your square lately??

Saw a chevy 350, disassembled, on craigslist for $205. I bought it. Due to go into Ralph (the white truck) in about 2 years. I'm looking at the budget to build and install it, as just a reliable motor, 250 HP originally. I'm thinking mostly stock, with a 4 bbl intake and an Edelbrock 1406, that...

    drum brakes

Its the "diameter" of the brake pads when hooked in place (no drum), which contacts the drum. So, 13 x 2.5" brakes would also be 2.5 " wide pads

Has anybody ever notched cab for more seat clearance?

I'm 5'10". My seat is about right, but a little short to push clutch down comfortably. But, with my Hurst truck shifter, when I pull back to 1st or 3rd, its very close to the seat, so I don't know if moving the seat up will hit the shifter. I'll go try it today.

Just bought new wheels from speedway- Blems. for $68 each. 15x8 rally wheels, silver. Bargain! Free shipping. They said they were mounted and dismounted. So I bought $800 worth of tires to mount on them. So much for bargain. Should help this winter. Pictures next week after all the swapping...

Dang! Turn signals stopped the flashy thing. Dash indicator, both sides comes on with no flash. Emergency flashers working fine. . Brake Switch Wire 1981 C-10

If you look at the Ash tray back view, you can see that the wires are halfway up the dashboard. Perhaps if you remove all your instruments, those wires should be just below and visible. I know, you don't want to remove the instruments. I don't blame you. But Mickey has been there. you may find...

    Brake Switch Wire 1981 C-10

So, I looked. I'm pressing on the brake pedal, and you can see the Brake light switch unloaded (brakes on), but the wire goes into the harness and ?? Ida know. So, the 81 factory shop manual shows the Stop LP switch connector goes up into a harness, that runs under the dash and into the main...

My 42 year old truck is becoming my daily driver. 2WD in a Denver winter. I drove in all sorts of cars with 2 WD when I lived in Snow country, never had a problem. Looking for better tires, and a load of wood in the bed. Anyone have 4 good rally wheels (5"x5, 15 inch) that I could put winter...

    Cheap chit parts….

There was a time when cars had porcelain badges on their hoods. Fired in Kilns, polished, some hand painted. The manufacturer was proud of their product. Now the plastic junk that replaced it isn't even good for a year indoors... Mechanical parts coming from our auto parts stores are not much...
