    Plans for the summer.

155 miles? You can push it that far - ;) When I got my '87 back from my in laws it was in Montana (they had it 18 years). My wife and I flew out, looked it over and drove it back. 1700 miles, cold turkey. I brought a couple screwdrivers, a pair of pliers and a flashlight. I needed the...

    daily driving/work truck use

That's what these were built for - daily drivers and light hauling - and what people have used them for since forever. Is it the C30 in your signature? That thing would be so way overdesigned for what you are going to do with it (which is a good thing). You should be fine. Mine was a daily...

    daily driving/work truck use

Manual or Automatic? If manual, which one? (ie, M20 - granny low; or MY6 - Mopar A833 3 speed with overdrive)? If it's the granny version then it will be "ok" - its super heavy duty but top gear is 1:1, which is going to make your rear axle ratio choice a bit more critical. K

The speedometer gear drive was stolen out of my truck.

I have never heard of such a thing (stealing a speedo gear). Calculator here: https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/speedometer-gear-calculator/

What is my new squarebody??? Need help!

You might check to see if the VIN on that SPID matches the truck (VIN on the dash and VIN on the frame rail). There's enough different that I'm not sure they are the same truck. For example, ZY1 is solid exterior paint. Somebody did an impressive job with that two tone - or - it's a body swap. K

    Pulling Sucks--2001 Suburban 3/4 ton--6.0

Definitely something is wrong. I've pulled my Haulmark enclosed (24 ft, approx 7500 lbs) all over the US, often with 1/2 ton GMT800 utilities with no issues. K

    '85 C30 - Reg.Cab - 8" Bed - 2WD

We built 15 million squares. An 85 C30 single wheel is just one of the many variations. We probably built 2-3 million. Rare? Not even remotely. K

Another Speedometer Question I know.. But couldnt find an solution

They have a calculator, too, for number of teeth, rear axle ratio and (actual) tire rolling radius: https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/speedometer-gear-calculator/

Another Speedometer Question I know.. But couldnt find an solution

The speedo is purely mechanical, driven by the cable. I'd try an external adapter next. Figure out what percentage you need and stick it on there. https://transmissioncenter.net/product-tag/speedometer-gears/ Mine came with a Z shaped adapter on it from the factory. K

Are these dual shocks factory. Pic inside. 1987 K10 long bed truck

Correct. It wouldn't necessarily create additional stress as long as the bolt is not in bending (ie, the forces from both shocks are the same); if the forces on the bolt are equal then the load into the hole is vertical, just like a shorter bolt. K

Are these dual shocks factory. Pic inside. 1987 K10 long bed truck

Yes - those look correct. RPO Z75 = dual front shocks. K

Brake upgrade using GM parts bin...

Squarebody JB6 is eight lug; so the JB5 is the biggest you can go and stay 5 lug. I would recommend you stay with the factory designed JB5 system. It is a nice setup and should be totally adequate for what you have in mind. This little red '87 is a JB5 system and was a daily driver and light...
