Woodward Dream Cruise Thread - 2022 Edition

1963 Grand Prix. I've had it ten or twelve years. Every available comfort and convenience option (including a/c, ps, pb, pw, power vent windows, power seat, Am/FM with power antenna, remote trunk release) but the base powertrain (389cu in 4bbl automatic). It's a very comfortable cruiser. K

Woodward Dream Cruise Thread - 2022 Edition

No - I wasn't out until from 6pm to 9pm, in the Grand Prix. I did see a few red squarebodies, though. K

And - as if on cue - now it's pouring out. I got drizzled on by a passing shower earlier this morning but it is torrential right now. K

Woodward Dream Cruise Thread - 2022 Edition

The cruise is officially held on Saturday but the locals know the fun starts about a week ahead of time. This is from last night: Me, my brother in law (with my '87 pickup) and my boss ('38 Ford with a Flathead). K

    GMC vs. CHEVROLET

The other differentiation the marketing guys told me one time: Chevy - the guy that works at the construction site GMC - the foreman at the construction site Cadillac - the guy that owns the construction site K

    GMC vs. CHEVROLET

By '73 they were the same. X88 = Chevrolet nameplate option Z88 = GMC nameplate option So a GMC was just a Chevy with a badge change (or vice versa, depending on your perspective). They kept the GMC around so that non-Chevy dealers like Buick and Pontiac could sell a truck too.

    Why You No Hood Emblem?

Luggage Rack? Light bar? Tie down brackets (camper or canoe)?

    Why You No Hood Emblem?

This is not correct, per your own attachment/link. Zy5 is the two tone package, which consists of the secondary color in the inset and the pin stripe. You could never order just the stripe without the two tone. See page 81 of your link. K

    Why You No Hood Emblem?

This is correct. Well done, you. K

Hi guys new here have 1987 c-10

Welcome aboard. Not to be a pedant, but technically you have an '87 "R-10". '86 was the last year for the C/K designation for the squarebody. The R/V designation started in the '87 model year to avoid confusion with the upcoming GMT400 models, which retained the C/K naming. Now you'll have...

Looking at a 1984 and have questions

FireTruck is more than likely correct - but - to answer your specific technical questions: Axles: Corporate 10 bolt rear, with 3.42 standard or an optional 3.73 ratio MPG: I would expect low 20's/high teens highway Wood bed: yep - they are all over the place. Probably some running around...

    Transmission ID.

That trans would be known as a New Process A833, which is a MOPAR trans with third gear set 1:1 and fourth gear as an overdrive. Within GM it was RPO MM7 (the merchandised option code) or also MY6 (the non-merchandised option code). K

1977 k10 "trailering special" factory receiver hitch pictures

Absolutely (as I mentioned in post #3). There was no welding taking place on the frame line. Only rivets and bolts. K

Brake booster on my 86 K30

    You are correct; model code CK20903 = C = Chevrolet nameplate K = 4x4 209 = long wheel base 3/4 ton 03 = pickup K

Saddle Tanks NOT near as dangerous as publicized !!!

I remember it as well. I was an engineer for the squarebody trucks at the time. My dad worked at Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing - Pressed Metal Division and made radiator supports, fenders, air cleaner housings, and fuel tanks. K

1977 k10 "trailering special" factory receiver hitch pictures

There absolutely is such a thing as a factory hitch on a K10. It's not going to be welded to the frame, though. It will be a welded unit bolted to the underside of the frame rails. K

'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

I can say with authority that the big block version would weigh 4100 lbs. K

    Painted Emblems

And Scottsdale was yellow. Never like it. Painted it black on my '80; removed them on my '87. K

oops ! Can you spot what’s wrong here?

See my earlier post. Two studs per side. There were two versions: some with threaded fasteners, some with small black rectangular plastic clips. K

oops ! Can you spot what’s wrong here?

Technically - the grille center trim is not correct either. Should be tan to match the two tone inset color. The only time they mis-match is in a service application. K

oops ! Can you spot what’s wrong here?

We used to put those on in my area after Fender Set. The operator would take a little awl and bend out the end clip from the upper and lower grille chrome to help start the eyebrow at the top and bottom, then push it inboard and home on the fender. IIRC early ones had two threaded fasteners on...
