Pretty. I guarantee it's going to be a bouncy ride, hard to keep in the lane, and shoot to the right when you stab the brakes. K

    Front caliper upgrade?

Correct. 1 - Two pistons distribute the load on the pad better. 2- The smaller pistons have a better "L over D" ratio. That is, the single piston is really short and large in diameter, which can make it more prone to "cocking" in the bore, especially once you start to get some taper wear on...

What master cylinder and booster do I get?

Those only exist at my house. They are the charts the engineers used to release the part numbers for production and service. I have them back to 1969. I knew they existed and that one of the brake system engineers had them. I was bugging him so much that he let me borrow them. Somehow they...

    Aluminum Silverado wheels

If you look at the back side the forged wheel will be smooth-ish; the cast will have an as cast texture (sandy appearance). K

    Two tone paint

The upper location is established by the (multicolor) tape stripe. You'll want to get those and apply them before paint or reference them for your measurements. The bottom is defined by the B84/B85 adhesive side trim. Incidentally, in the assembly plant, the secondary (inset) color was...

    Aluminum Silverado wheels

All GM wheels were made by an outside supplier, like "Motorwheel" or "Alcoa" or Kelsey Hayes, etc. I do not recall who made these; I do recall there were two version. Early version was forged, and then at some point they went cast as a cost savings. K

I don't remember Moe but this guy was kinda dodgy. K

Help identifying this transmission, and an OD 4 speed to replace it.

I think that is about all there is to know = Saginaw, three speed. Really the only other thing that could be known would be the first gear ratio. There were three versions available but I don't recall the exact ratios (3.50, 3.11 and something else). A RPO MY6 New Process A833 would be an...

    81 c10 rear end?

Maybe. When the rear drums are machined sometimes they leave a little "screw thread" situation. As you drive the shoes are then pulled away from drum until the spring force overcomes the thread and they "snap" back against the backing plate. That results in a rhythmic "click click click"...

    81 c10 rear end?

Well - it should be fine for daily use. Maybe do something with the center carrier if it has the "gov-loc" differential. I've got the original 8.5" ring gear 10 bolt in my Chevelle. It's roughly 1000 HP and goes 9.80's at 3900 lb class weight. I have to change the ring and pinion every so...

    81 c10 rear end?

It came with an 8.5. If the original axle is still under there that's what it would be. K

Rear Gear Install for C10 with TH350

Yep - I always go 3.42 with a non-overdrive trans; 3.73 with an overdrive. It's a really nice balance between fuel economy and off the line performance. Been very happy with that strategy for about 45 years now. K

    Why automotive grounds are important.

Sidebar #2: (More in line with this thread) When I had my '80 stepside I would pull the tailgate and rear lamp brackets and paint them every spring to combat the rust accumulated over the Michigan winters. After a few years it got to where the turn signals and rear lights weren't working...

    Why automotive grounds are important.

Sidebar #1: We became pretty good friends outside of work, since he lived in my same little community north of Detroit. I would often be out in my shop, wiring something up, with him on the phone stepping me through it. We actually discovered a build issue that way: the electrical...

    Why automotive grounds are important.

When I would investigate design problems I would always go directly to the Electrical Vehicle System Engineer. I'd say: "Jerry - I've got a...." and he would interrupt with "It's a bad ground". I'd say "you didn't even let me finish my question!" "Doesn't matter. It's always a bad ground". K

Hood adjuster pins on the cowl???

The pins are there to help initiate this kinking during a crash, so that the hood folds rather than slicing through the windshield. K

Hood adjuster pins on the cowl???

    This is absolutely 1000% correct.

Welcome aboard, and fire away. My only recommendation would be to perhaps start a separate thread with your specific question in the title. I think you will get more responses that way. K
