    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

The clamshell pullers are used on carrier bearings, if you are reusing a carrier, or on Dana axles they sometimes put the shims inbetween the carrier and the bearing, instead of the housing and the outer race. So to make a shim change requires pulling the bearing. And to pull the inner pinion...

Engine Block Heater for SBC 350

Back when 6 volt vehicles were still mainline people would install 4 cell 8 volt batteries to give them a little extra cranking power. That was more of a “shade tree” type thing to do though. There is the old tales of maintaining small fires under the oil pan to warm it up.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

It’s not much, on the setup bearings I have made it has been from .0005 to .0015 I’ve had to hone out. Not much at all. Just a nice slip fit. I did the ones for the 79s 12 bolt on the Sunnen hone, the ones for my friends 14b sf I did with a hillbilly hone. Some folks like to use the old pinion...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

4.88s? What’s the reason for that if I may ask? I would go solid pinion spacer myself. You can make your own setup bearings if you have access to a Sunnen hone, or 3 stone hone (like a wheel cylinder or cylinder hone) or hillbilly hone (Emery cloth folded on a rod with a slit down the middle)...

What have you done to your square lately??

I did know about the hubcaps, whenever it was first pointed out to me, the next logical progression was to have to count the “lugs” every time I saw a van with them. Can’t remember the last time I have seen a pickup with them. Did see 3 or 4 years ago a 7 lug F250 that was parked next to me at...

What have you done to your square lately??

I cannot validate it, but my late uncles' truck was a 97 F150, it had the exhaust exiting in front of the rear tire. I had thought it was just something that a PO had done because the factory system had fallen off or something. Until I saw another F150 around here that was the same, so I got...

What have you done to your square lately??

In Missouri Saint Louis city , Saint Louis county, Saint Charles county, and Jefferson county require emissions testing, 1996 and newer for gas and 1997 and newer for diesel, GVWR 8500lb and under. So everything I own is exempted due to age or weight. Statewide for safety inspections. But the...

    2 post shop lift

There are at least two guys at the shop that have 2 posts in their units, one in a 20x50 (like mine) and another in a 15x50. So I’m guessing the slabs are thick enough for one (I’d hope so). In my mind the 15 wide unit is kind of nice for one since it can only go in one spot left to right...

    2 post shop lift

Congratulations on the lift! Like having a pocket on a shirt, very handy. I’ve been seriously looking into a four post for myself, split usage between storage and service. Really one of each would be best…

NEW Brothers Dash Bezels - CHEAP

Thanks for the heads up, was able to order one for my 79. Not quite the smoking hot $12 deal, but fair at $40 for it.

    2 piece driveshaft needed

Have you checked with driveshafts unlimited in Arnold? Or Jerry Bickel? Not sure what the price would be for on one of them vs an online retailer.

Finally got a new mig welder

The Primeweld machines seem to get very positive remarks. I was strongly looking into the Tig 225 machine, ended up with a ~50 year old Miller. That was simply because I got the Miller with water cooler and some other goodies for the price of primeweld’s water cooler. Had I not got the deal on...

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

You had mentioned the block is a 1970 block in another thread? Where is your timing pointer? A 1982 should have the timing pointer at 12:00 behind the water pump, a 1970 should have the pointer at ~2:00. The balancers are different between the two, where the timing mark is located in relation...

'78 K20 wiper and headlight switch selection help needed!

1973-1974 bezel Switches look correct for a 78, if you had intermittent/delay wipers it would have a round knurled knob that rotates instead of that rectangle chromed wiper switch.

What new tools have you got lately?

Very nice, I built a similar arrangement and put it on top of my other shelves as I have the ceiling height, and a scaffold.
