    Tilt Steering Column

Too bad that you are a long way from SETX, I have a couple of used factory square body tilt columns I would let go for a reasonable amount. The 73-83 units are the same; 84 is when they went to the multi function switch with dimmer switch in the column. Big box on left side of the column around...

    1989 Chevy K1500

Yeah I noticed that too! The metal plate is where you put the thermal paste to keep it from getting cooked.

    Installing tailgate band

And the 73-74 GMC tailgate doesn't have the letters/emblem in the center; it's stamped in the upper left side. Therefore the full size trim piece for those two years are smooth (another mod Dad did on his '75; back then he just bought a trim piece from the dealer!).

    Two tone paint

Those three pictures also illustrated the variables in Rallye wheel trim rings! Seems like the 83-84 had a recessed edge on the ring, most visible in the center picture, and the 85-up has a tapered edge that's an extension of the taper in the ring.... Pretty sure the ones Dad used on the factory...

    Two tone paint

Those pictures answered a couple of questions for me, and confirmed a few of my 40+ year old memories. Firstly, the 83-84 Chevrolet Silverado grille bars (that are color matched) ARE more narrow than the 85-up ones. Look at the chrome bars vs. the Bowtie; on the 83-84 they appear to extend from...

GMT400 wipers not returning to rest

I had a pair of new blades for the Burb, to go on it after I got the windshield replaced. But didn't get them on it, and I remembered where I'd put them in the shop, so I swapped them out on the crew cab(same size, 18") and it doesn't do this as bad now. Also helps if the window is wetter; I...

GMT400 wipers not returning to rest

I know these are bad about the solder joints coming undone....I suspect Mr crew cab is beginning to do this. Do you have new wiper blades on it, those will help.

2024 Space City Shootout model car show and contest

Guy who built that one is a big racing fan, he goes to the Indianapolis 500 every year. We have some really amazing and talented modelers in our club, and that come to our shows.....

Square body truck diecast for sale

So...all those are sold! I still have a couple of the M2 individual boxed squares, and some of the box sets with a truck and trailer. And I recently picked up one of the Kaido House square body trucks and a couple of the Hot Wheels monster truck sets, with the Wreckreation square body with the...

    Color match for blue interior

Trust GM to have 3 colors of blue, and 2 of em are real close.... That interior color does go well with the body color though. I remember my grandma's '68 Tempest having the metallic blue interior, and it seems like every piece of it was a slightly different shade. That car was garaged... when...

    1981-82 Metal Lower Tailgate Mldg

IIRC it was the 305 and 350 4 barrels. Our '81 Sierra shop truck had a 305 2 barrel (dual jet). So no ESC badge...but I remember seeing a lot of trucks with that badge, back in the day. I was in high school in the early 80s....

What is this? Asking for a friend

Could be the brake light switch for a truck with cruise control. I remember seeing those, back when square body trucks were fairly new(in my parts store days).

    Year ID - Headlight Bezel

I think the one he got sent is the 81-82 V22 quad headlights bezel. The 83-84 has the color band between the sealed beams, (85-87 have a recess where the color band is on the 83-84)(to the best of my recollection). Dad had the V22 stuff for an '81 front clip he was going to put on the '75. I...

    Hi, from west Texas.

This has my OBS crew cab, but the caption could equally apply to a square body version. "It's not big... it's Texas sized!"

    Hi, from west Texas.

Old joke about Texas and Texans: Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, you'll know. If he isn't, you'll embarrass him......

    Quadrajet Filter Spring

My best friend in third grade was an only child like me, but her dad was in the "oil bidness" so they were a bit better off than my family. She had every Barbie toy or accessory, but her folks were also enlightened enough that she had toy cars too. She gave me Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars for my...

    Hi, from west Texas.

Hey... lots of area, lots of people, lots of uses for trucks...=lots of trucks! Remember this is also the state that made the later square body Burb "the national car of Texas"!

    Quadrajet Filter Spring

We got the parts store right before I turned 11. I was a Daddy's girl anyway and loved cars. Yes I was playing with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars! After we got the store, I was either there, or at home or school.....

    Quadrajet Filter Spring

That's the way I remember it too. I'll have to ask my retired mechanic cousin next time I talk to him.... I also remember there being 2 different styles of the nut/filter housing that screw into the carb body. IIRC the Chevy/GMC carbs had the fuel line come in from the passenger side of the...

So can someone tell me . . .

There are several different trim rings that will fit these wheels. Dad liked the more square edges with just a little bit of rounding, and he found some for the '79 and '84 Burbs. I wanna say that's what the original style was?? But there are other styles with the wider, more sloped profile...

So can someone tell me . . .

Maybe 6", 7" and 8" from the factory? I know the 5 lug ones were available in 15x8 cause we had em on the back of the '84 Burb, with mudgrips on them. The early "star" style OBS alloys we had on the front. Dad liked that wheel and wanted to run them on all 4 corners, but they didn't have the...

86 Suburban 2nd row shouldber belts

Our '84 Burb had shoulder belts on the outer (next to door) second row seat, but it was a Silverado. Our '90 GMC Burb had them too. The '84 had them on the third row (I think?) but we yanked that seat out early on as we used that Burb for hauling stuff. The '90 did not have a third row seat.

What have you done to your square lately??

That makes sense. My dad's name was Jim and he really wanted a Beau James or a Gentleman Jim. So he made one, after a fashion....he was always one for customizing.

Square body truck diecast for sale

I presume by "car culture" you mean the haulers? I don't have but one of them left anyway, the second version with the '66 Chevelle on the ramp.
