    Lowering a '73 C10

If your keeping the 15" wheels do a 2.5" spindle an the 3" spring. The amount of clearance needed for a 3" spindle an a 15" wheel isn't worth the work for the extra 1/2". My guess is your just scrubbing the inners as you took away a good bit of the spring rate with that much cut out. Going to...

    New NV4500 option?7

I looked into these transmission as a replacement to the NV4500 in my 99 C3500. 1st is already useless in it with 4.10 rear an a 5.61 1st in the NV. The TR-4050 is worse with its 6.16. They have a slightly better gear set for it with a 5.81 1st gear but at the moment its for Fords only for some...

    Sniper Coolant Temperature Probe Location?

My sniper sensor is the pass side head, an it works great there. It's been a while but I believe I had to use a 1/2 to 3/8 bushing for my stock 70s head. There are alot of snipers running around with sensors in the intake. It's not terrible but I think from my experiences with multiple...

    Sniper Coolant Temperature Probe Location?

Do not T the sniper sensor in. It needs to be in the coolant flow for a proper reading. If it's in a T then theres a possibility it gets an air bubble an a inaccurate reading. It's location is important for cold start an warm up performance. Personally I'd move it to the head an put the factory...

I have Original front rotors?? I need replacements. 1' or 1.25 Look inside!

I found this to add for anyone else who might be looking to figure out the difference in rotors. It goes with #3 above. With the rotor laying flat a 1" is 4.65" over all height. The 1.25" is 4.95"

I have Original front rotors?? I need replacements. 1' or 1.25 Look inside!

They don't look "thin" to me, just worn. If they measure under 1" at the ridge then they are the LD rotors. Another way you can double check is the inner bearing. Take it out of the rotor an take it to the parts store. Compare it with a new bearing for each rotor. The difference is pretty...

I have Original front rotors?? I need replacements. 1' or 1.25 Look inside!

Just measure then with a tape measure. Anything over 1" an you had 1.25" rotors. If it's under an 1" then they were 1" since it's an 86 they more than likely are 1" but measure before you buy parts. There's no way you wore 1.25" rotors down to or under 1" without other issues.

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

Sounds to me like you should do the arms now since that seems to solve quite a few more issues at the moment than wheels/tires will. You also can wait a bit on the sway bar after doing the arms, it doesn't have to be done at the same time. A lowered truck without a bar already handles better...

    305 tpi to tbi question

There are several upgrade pcms an harnesses for TPI engines. I'd run it off one of those. The TPI was the best truck intake they never put on a truck!

Front seat simple swap? Is there such a thing?

It is fairly simple, it can be done with no welding if you can make some risers for the inner front sliders. This is one way its been done.

    LMC bucket seats arrived.

Currently have a 40/20/40 out of an 08 silverado. That's part of why I wanted them to adjust individually so the "console" stayed put. I was worried it would hit my shifter an it does. I'm going back to a 96 60/40 though. The 08 seats are nice but to thick in the backrest for the C10. I'm going...

I built this an put universal sliders on top so the seats were independently adjustable, not that anyone ever moves them lol.

Dakota Digital HDX Install Write Up

It can be shown on the gauges depending on the vehicle. For a square with a stock trans it requires an add on gear indicator module. With an LS engine/trans swap you can read it out of the pcm with an OBD2 module, I believe.

    Lowering the front and rear

Again, cutting springs (up to 1 full coil for a C10/C1500) does not make the ride bad, this is an incorrect old internet myth that just won't die. Ride quality is mainly dictated by the shocks an the available suspension travel. HEATING the springs with a torch to a desired ride height...

Clearance issues with lowering spindles and what you did about it…

I would CAREFULLY cut out /grind the edge of it up to the bottom of the ball joint. That shouldn't affect the strength or how the ball joint stays in. Bad attempt at marking it up but in an arc like this slightly above where it's been rubbing.

Clearance issues with lowering spindles and what you did about it…

There are alot less clearance issues with a 15x7 or a 15x6 wheel. Some people probably think they have 8" wheels when in reality they don't. The drop spindle brand really doesn't matter, they are cast in 2 places so they are basically the same regardless of who's name is on the box.

Clearance issues with lowering spindles and what you did about it…

If you have 15x8 wheels all around a 15x7 up front will give some extra clearance. Other than that you've got to grind the steering arm or run a spacer. With the cpp a-arm it shouldn't be interfering at the ball joint. I would be hesitant to grind on that a-arm but I've beveled a bunch of...
