Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

The React spindle I mentioned is for 88-98. It's a completely new design Travis had done from scratch. It's not available anywhere else an was desperately needed for those trucks. I believe he worked on it in conjunction with Baer for the brake kits he also offers for those trucks. His 63-87...

I hope you left the - off your camber numbers there. You want negative so it doesn't go so positive during aggressive corning. My dd charger has about -1.7* and while it does wear the inner more its not super bad but it is a completely different suspension setup compared to these trucks. I'd...

Moog offers offset upper a-arm shafts that add 1* of camber iirc. I used them when I was still on stock arms to help avoid a huge stack of shims so I wouldn't worry about them falling out. I'm sure you probably don't want to go through the hassle of installing them now but if you wanted to they...

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

Hangers: As I’ve said, skip them at all costs. They just aren’t worth the hassle of installation unless you know for sure you never want to go lower. You can do these with the bed on but it sucks, the gas tank usually has to come out, the rivets suck to remove they are just overall a huge PIA...

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

C notch: On 73-87 trucks with a flip kit, you don’t necessarily need a notch. If you just plan to cruise around in the truck and won’t be hauling or towing much it will be ok without it. On large dips, bridge approaches or potholes it might hit the frame a bit but nothing major. You will have...

Alright on to the rear suspension Spoiler alert, the best thing you can do to get the best handling and ride out of your truck is to ditch the leaf springs ASAP! The 67-72 guys have us beat here as the trailing arm setup under most of those trucks is a great start for a truck that doesn’t want...

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

A-Arms: The 73-87 arms are pretty labor intensive to rebuild bushing wise. It’s a wash really if you want to do that or buy aftermarket arms if you are paying for the labor. I like the CPP tubular arms on a static drop truck for the value they provide. You get new Delrin bushings, new ball...

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

Alignment: Factory alignment specs leave a lot to be desired and if you can find a good shop that will work with you it can be better. These are the specs I ask them for, you might have to pay more but it will be worth it in the end. If you’re looking for a good, sporty driving truck then this...

Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

Springs: So, there is a ton of debate about this as well. I’ve done or experienced pretty much all the options at one time or another. 1” drop springs are usually a waste of time, your factory springs are 40+ years old, with a ton of miles on them and are pretty worn out. Almost every truck...

I agree completely, still think it needed some better parts but it looks to be in very capable hands an should be back to better than it was when it left GMG really.

Looks like someone is FINALLY finishing this thing.... Sounds like it was a mess an never actually "belonged" to Alex either.... Ugh that's the wrong hood for a 76 too. Funny that he talked about how bad the metal was. I'm not surprised at all.

How much does your square body weigh?

My C10 is about 3800 usually after I empty at the scrap yard. That's usually with me probably 1/2 tank of fuel an my toolbox with probably 100lbs of junk in it lol. Edit: 78 C10 350 NV3500 on air ride

    Cutting coils

2 makes the spring too short an it will fall out of the pocket when you jack up the truck. It can still be aligned but the guy won't like you very much lol. Your shocks should be fine. I run/recommend stock length KYBs even with a 3" drop spring.

I'm not going to get in a debate over all this with you if that's what you're after. For what we are discussing in this thread (off the shelf parts that have been around over 40 yrs in some cases) these are not concerns people should have. You only need to worry about bump steer an Ackerman...

It will work just fine. That style stud comes with a locking nut which is another reason I like using them. Just get them as tight as possible and use RED lcctite on the large nut holding the stud to the frame. Use Blue on the nut that secures the shock. I generally don't change the studs if...
