    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Please don't take this the wrong way but not all counter salespeople are equal, but...a guy that is probably on commission and sells parts for a living told you it would be ok, because he did it once but isn't doing the work and won't help you when it breaks by either holding the flashlight or...

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Hmmm, my opinion/concern is that you upgraded to an ARP bolt(200k psi?) which is going to stretch different than a stock bolt(140-160k psi). In my opinion, if you aren't going to resize, I'd look for a stock, used bolt. When I worked at PAW, we resized probably a 1000 rods a day and on 99% of...

    Looking for a roll bar

D/T insurance, you may not see them advertised as "Roll Bars" anymore. May have to search as bed bar, light bar, etc. If powdercoating is expensive in your area and you have some room and time, you could powdercoat it yourself fairly cheaply. Sand it down to bare metal, use the harbor freight...

    Fuel Pump Selection

A good quality stock style/ outlet/ psi pump should be fine if you really are focused on low end. If you plan to get on it a bunch, I'd probably buy the Edelbrock or Holley mechanical pumps. Probably best to do it for piece of mind anyways. For carb, again my opinion, you'd be better off with...

    Dino's Git Down 2023

Good show this year. I went Friday, bought a few items. I didn't see LMC there this year which was disappointing as I wanted to buy a bunch and last year they had a good coupon. Lot of blazers this year.

    Replacing headlights

You shouldn't have to remove the grill but you do need to remove the bezel. IIRC, on an '89, should be a torx screw under the hood, one under the parklight and a 3rd by the headlight itself that holds the bezel to the core support. Then a torx to remove the screws that hold the headlight...

    Wiring harness options

While I have re-wired Squarebody's with aftermarket kits, I'm not sure that an aftermarket kit is necessary as they are still somewhat modern. On older cars with fabric wrapped wires, glass fuses, 6v, generators, manual everything; a complete re-wire is more of a necessity. Moving on.. I've...

    Dino's Git Down 2023

Clearly his silence and lack of response shows that it is a yes and that he is going to do it.

Got a weird idea for a truck bed

Do you need all nine of them or just a few pieces? A fabrication shop would probably be about $200 each and unfortunately all 9 are different. I was able to repair ours with the scraps from cutting down from longbed to shortbed.

    Dino's Git Down 2023

You guys gave away a complete shell last year...I think you should step up and have a drawing for your truck! Thoughts?

    Dino's Git Down 2023

Normally I go Friday, however I will probably go Saturday as there are quite a few giveaways this year that you have to be present to win and I'm feeling lucky.

Should this new guy buy this '85?

Yes it is. There are 2 Cad 500 places that have a lot of parts for conversions. Not sure how familiar you are with Cad 472/500 but they make tons of torque and you can run a much higher gear for highway mpg's. Cadillacs goal was to be the smoothest running engine and this was the last of the...

Got a weird idea for a truck bed

Angle strips? Angle strips are only on stepsides. The wood fleetside has a wide flange all the way around that holds the wood floor.

Got a weird idea for a truck bed

Please do not cut up that bed...I was told only 3000 were made from 73-79. I'd be interested in any useable pieces and it appears others might be as well.

Hey everybody I'm Anthony an auto tech from Tucson Arizona. I look forward to getting involved with this discussion forum.

Welcome Tony! If you do determine that it is a carb issue r/t the quadrajet, there is a quadrajet shop in Peoria. Also, next month in mid November is Dino's Git Down in Glendale at Cardinals stadium. Its a good, free Chevy show. Supposedly last year there was 10,000 Chevy trucks with 3000 of...

I like the ones where they start with burbs and cut the back off.

    Question about headers

On my son's truck, I used the ceramic coated one's sold by summit. They had thick flanges, fit perfect, and installed very quickly in less than 15 minutes per side, not including the the collector connections on a new build. I used Fel-Pro gaskets and good bolts. I haven't run them yet so I...

    Engine removal tool

I pretty much only use carb plate but it's difficult with the trans. I usually put 1-2 tie downs on just in case. Also, the 1 ton engine hoists usually have a shorter boom than the 2 tons so they are sometimes not quite long enough.

Patch panel to “fix” hole in bed from former 5th wheel hitch??

I have a similar issue on my dually. I removed the tool box and found an 7" hole for transfer tank or something... There is a shop near me who has converted a lot of trucks from long bed to short bed and he has a lot of remnants. I was going to stop by in the next few days and see if I could...

    Got a Dodge squarebody!

I had one lose a hub and wheel while towing my K5 on the interstate just inside of AZ from New Mexico. All we saw was a flaming ball pass us at 65 mph. Then it rolled off the highway and caught the only tree on fire in the while area. Fortunately a trooper drove by with a shovel and we were able...

    Got a Dodge squarebody!

Did Dodge start paint matching them to U-Haul because they spent so much time getting towed?

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

I have a guy that I am trying out now in Phoenix. He is painting my '90 for a reasonable price. He works out of his house and rents a booth for the spray. PM me and in about a week or so, he should be done and you can come look at my truck and decide. My '90 is a driver and I wanted something...

    Dielectric Grease

This came up the other day with a friend of mine who did something with electronics in the military and he said they were taught not to use it for the reasons outlined above. But I use it on just about every connection. I figure if it needs to be metal to metal, it typically scrapes away where...

    Are front wheel bearings adjustable?

2 things... If you are running a large or heavy wheel/ tire, usually larger than 20's, you may need to upgrade your drop spindle to a CPP X10 or Wilwood as they use a hub assembly which mostly resolves this issue. While I have some expensive torque wrenches...I typically use a inexpensive...

4wd High Hump Repop Floor Pan

I think you can pretty much build a brand new cab now. Firewalls, complete door frames, and the floors all have become available in the last year. I don't think I have seen dash metal though?
