    Installing Sensors

When you fellas install various sensors in the heads or intake, are you using any kind of sealer on the threads? Regardless of a tapered thread, cars I used to work on required just a dab - I used a toothpick with some Permatex on maybe 2 threads, leaving most untouched since they have to...

Anyone ever make/crimp their own high pressure hoses?

The compressor is a 175psi setup and my hoses are rated at 350psi (Parker Industrial - normally they're around 250 max). I was about 50ft away from a 1000 gal tank that blew once at a shop - buckled the steel man door it was near like a pop can.....like saw blades, I respect them to a fault...

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

The time to buy a VA unit is October as dealers dont want all that coin taking up shelf space over the winter. When I got mine, avg price was $1400. I got it for $1000 even with add-on pressure switches and a fancier control head. That doesn't help you for FL in June.....but just saying.

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

I kept the system but got rid of the compressor and lines - used a different style compressor and lines for a cleaner look and more factory mount.

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

I could see it if you wanted to keep it all original, but since you're already swapping in an LS, why not get a Vintage Air setup? My K20 was a dealer swap setup - was shot when I got it, so I got the VA setup. I love the room under the hood without that outgrowth original setup in the way.

Anyone ever make/crimp their own high pressure hoses?

I have a 5hp 80 gal compressor. I am in process of mounting an aftercooler on it - drastically reduces the air temp and moisture by about 90-95%. Line leaves the tank and goes to a manifold that exits one end for air tool use (95% dry) and exits the other to another cooler rack and then on to a...

Anyone ever make/crimp their own high pressure hoses?

I need (4) 3/4NPT and (2) 3/8NPT fittings crimped on my own hose and they want $140 to do it. For that kind of coin, I could buy a nice kit and do it myself from here on out. Going to need to make custom AC lines for the square anyways. Sounds like something Eastwood would peddle.

Anyone ever make/crimp their own high pressure hoses?

Looking to make a 3/4NPT and 3/8NPT high pressure (flex) lines. Local place wants stupid $$ to do it (and I already have the Parker industrial hose) - figured I'd rather put the $ towards the tooling and do it myself forever. Parker has a new style "barb" that from what I hear is pretty...

Need an electrical (220v) second opinion

Had thoughts about running a gas line out for a future furnace but the wife doth protest too much. We dont want to live here any longer than we have to - but my take is the old "linear predictions in a non-linear world" rule.....iow, things can happen where we're stuck here a few more years...

Yep. Generator's owners manual says same thing. When I run the whole house on it. Let it run for about 3-5min, then one flip one breaker at a time. Runs smooth.

Bought an '87 long bed on Bring a Trailer a few days ago

Plus, you can be driving and enjoying it rather than burning time to build/rebuild it. Most used cars I bought took 6 months and $10k+ to get the car to match the description in the ad I bought it from. Sweet ride nonetheless. I'm jealous. :hat:

Need an electrical (220v) second opinion

fwiw.....original plan was to have a new skirt poured in front of my garage and while things were torn up, run an underground conduit for 220 and a sub panel in the garage - problem solved. The guy doing the concrete is behind til mid-late summer, so this whole generator thing is because I cant...

Need an electrical (220v) second opinion

I know oil cooled compressors have a harder start surge than air cooled in cold weather - my 30gal 2HP oil compressor wont start in anything around 20*. This will be summer so I'm not worried about it. Called a place that makes extension cords for welders - they said the same thing. 10/3 for...

Need an electrical (220v) second opinion

:hat: So thats what it takes to get a response? lmao Just wondered if 10/3 was sufficient for a 30ft run from a 9500w generator to a 22A air compressor. Or would I need 8/3? Found someone else who had been there - done that and 10/3 works fine up to around 50ft.

Rear wheels are sucked in way more than front. K10. Adapters? BAD IDEA? pics inside

Only time I ever used spacers was if a customer asked me to - and it was 1000% aesthetics - never on a car that would autocross, etc. And the only ones I ever used were German made hub-centric spacers that bolted on using the original studs / counter sunk nuts, then used offset studs on the...

Rear wheels are sucked in way more than front. K10. Adapters? BAD IDEA? pics inside

Older 4N cars are like this - rears are usually 3+ inches more narrow. The manufacturers official reason was that the front track being wider was more stable and the rears being more narrow was to help with over-steer. Never stopped people from spacing them out.

Are locking hubs factory or personal add on?

My K10 had the 4x4 full time caps - my K20 had the lockouts. When it arrived, it had the lower line Warn hubs and were whipped. Alot of plastic parts I wasn't too thrilled with either. I replaced them with the premium line and love them. Can tell they are better built by the weight alone. All...

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

Thanks dude. K20. Pretty much just new springs but it worked out to a 2" lift. Tires would have fit but looked a tad cramped. I like them subtley stout - not slammed or jacked to the moon.
