Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

that pusher fan your truck is lucky to be factory equipped with is probably doing your stock big block wonders when moving slowly and at stops. Does yours full-on with AC commanded on? Do you have an AC heater core valve installed to redirect from the heater core so the ac isnt fighting...

Do you daily your truck, is this a good condition keep it clean situation> or do you keep a pint of PS fluid in by the battery for that leaky but not so fast ps hose thats coated that half of the engine bay but works so dont bother?? Time for new shocks. Look at these!

Or, romantically, big spoon little spoon. Till the springs piss you off, then its a lot more like hate-f'ing I mean, thats one persepctive. The GM drum brake is infinitely superior to the unchanged since bednix invented the design in the like 50s that Ford was using till the late 90s...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

5-10 pounds Id say ID say go for a HD6, but there are many options it looks like the overall trend was improvements in designs but the same profile, so as long as you have the right switches and clutches/pulleys it will work, but that means finding out if THAT is an HD6 on it or if its...

Time for new shocks. Look at these!

show us what the wear on the inside of the drum is, i would base turning it on how its condition is thus far, because perfectly working drum brakes that dont have issues and are properly done and never seize etc would basically never really need one till the drum was done But a low enough...

    Sliding rear window gasket?

These are just the window seals, but whats being looked for is the seals of the window itself. The window to the cab is not what most people are needing. Mines fine. But the actual seals for the sliding mechanisms. but if what you say about the glass and windows on the 80s vs the 70s is true...

    Sliding rear window gasket?

A LOT of GM windows had aluminum trim. Infact, it was the possibility of a large portion, as a bunch of trucks with sliders were higher trim, higher trims got bright trim usually. Its not a 100% 1:1 becausee of the 80s changed that a bit, but my 1980 is a FACTORY like that, but it is different...

    Sliding rear window gasket?

this is the 84+ factory slider that they made a seal kit for Precision does NOT have a seal kit for a 1973-1983 at all, i checked. the one there says specifically not for slider factory

Holley Sniper: dramatic fuel enrichment when exiting CLC

If you have a OBD1 GM you can , while running, short A and B on the ALDL and then the service engine soon lamp will actually do that, quite literally flashing! Just drive around and it will keep telling you exactly what loop youre in

Holley Sniper: dramatic fuel enrichment when exiting CLC

youd notice on a lot of OBD2 vehicles that sudden dropping off the throttle will put the vehicle in open loop, a big part of that is staying in closed loop, with a dramatic drop in throttled air, then a delay in which a IAC steps in to control the idle air, and the drop in load on the engine...

Olds Bravada, GMC Jimmy, Chevy Blazer rear ends

yes, it can jingle around in there, its what was locking the shafts from turning lol Thoughts on failure? The failure to me seems to be loss of lubricant and extreme neglect , but maybe it was a g80 bombing? i think bravadas all had g80?

Olds Bravada, GMC Jimmy, Chevy Blazer rear ends

I got the bolts out by using a 12mm deep impact socket, and pounded on (didnt need a lot of force.. lol..) i was able to remove 2 bolts with a 6 point 1/2 socket of higher quality than the other day i tried. CARNAGE.

    R12 Replacement

If your system leaks, it has moisture in it. Moisture causes death in r12 systems, so even if you found more r12 the best way to handle this is to recover the r12, fix the leak, and redo. But any R12 you find is either going to be $$$$ or counterfeit or misleading other product. Just go to...

Does anyone experience a drop in rpm when turning on the A/C?

or a more efficient compressor / ac system, or if its really a bother, go to a variable displacement compressor, they dont cycle like clutch on-off ones do, so the horsepower draw is more smooth. it will still draw on a high load for the ac, but it wont be the way the OP complained ;) meaning...

Does anyone experience a drop in rpm when turning on the A/C?

on an 1986 there should be a mechanical plunger that holds the throttle higher when the AC is on, ac kickup is this truck a computer controlled qjet or normal? This is one example of the settings for a carburetor in a 1986 350, but i doubt its your carburetor. Knowing your carburetor number...
