Why do you love your TH350?

My 1977 K10 4x4 Suburban Silverado came factory equipped with 3.73 gears, 203 TC, 400 SB and a T350 transmission. It could break the tires loose a bit with hard acceleration but, was a full time 4x4. I drove it til the wheels come off and then I put BFG 33/12.50's tires and bigger wheels on it...

Counting freeze plugs is a major waste of time! Pic of a 400 block and 2 freeze plugs. Please read this post. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/help-with-trying-to-identify-a-400-ci-sbc.24224/#post-459174

New and picked another one up.

If the truck is a K30 it would have a Dana 60 front. Is this confirmed? If it was a 1980 as your paperwork mentions regardless of transmission, it would have a 205 transfer case. Does it? Not factory cab marker lights. K30 standard equipment. You say you are looking for power steering parts...

Sorry, I haven't been near this thread since I last posted here. No, I am a long ways from San Diego. From your description someone might have installed a "Rough Country" unit that was popular back in the day. It was much cheaper than the kits I used. It used most of the original parts. removing...

    31-40gal gas tank upgrade

All my square body Suburbans had the 40 gallon tank. My 1972 3 dr Suburban with 402 BB had a 40 gallon tank also. My 1994 Suburban with 6.5 Turbo diesel has a 42 gallon tank.

This is an 80 grill correct?

The Silverado in 1980 had the rectangular headlights. It is listed as standard equipment in the Silverado interior package on page 12 of the 1980 Showroom brochure. Truck on left is my new at the time 1980 and rectangular headlights. My 1979 in the middle and my 1977 on the right. Second pic...

    454 efi

Things have changed sooo much from my younger days. Back in the days a quick short answer for a BB cam warmup would just install the cam for a 390 hp 427. Used to keep them in stock at local Chevy dealerships. Especially worked wonders for the milder 396's and later 454's.

How much space between cab and bed? Is this to much?

Stop here a moment. GM did move the bed bolt mounting locations in later years. I replaced the bed on a 1980 with a newer bed off a square body. The forward bed holes in the bed did NOT line up with the ones in the frame rails when I lined up the rear first. Line the rear bed up with the rear...

    Heat shield?

They used to locate the heat riser butterfly trap between the passenger side exhaust header and the exhaust pipe. Until it opened all the way it would get much warmer in that location. Sample pic below.

To 6.2, or not to 6.2

Wrong. The military has had many 1 ton vans, and they were mostly diesel powered.

    Mobile House Trailer Frame

The original trailer Bob Chandler hauled his first BIGFOOT around on was homemade and had 3 mobile home axles under it. Back when BIGFOOT was still running 48" tires. I ran a homemade stock trailer for 20 years with mobile home axles under it with no problems. Big enough to haul 4 Percherons/or...

Transfer case lever slips out of selection

Hey guys, the original poster's bio states they own a 1980 K2500. That makes it a 205 transfer case if the truck is stock.

School me on intake manifolds and headers

Spend a little time and you might locate a cast iron high rise version of Chevrolet's aluminum high rise that was in the original Z28. It's heavier but, also is flanged for both carbs, Rochester and Holley. GM # 14096011 If you are wanting an aluminum intake and not a high rise intake the one...

    Vibration. K20 '76 th350 NP203 and a 400 motor.

I have run a few part timed 203's well over 100k without issues of oiling. I always added a bit more oil to the transfer case as instructed by one of the kit manufacturers back in the day. It seems to have worked well. Also when looking for a better 203 for replacement part way through 1978 and...

    Old Tractors

I have a pair of Case David Browns, a Ford 3600 diesel, and a JD 430. My favorite is the 996 with MFWD. The Carraro front axle makes it most useful. I have a few older garden tractors also. My favorite is my 1981 Sears FF series with the factory loader. Works well with my Gannon roll over box blade.

    Vibration. K20 '76 th350 NP203 and a 400 motor.

I did a lot of these conversions back in the day. The 2 best ones were pricey at the time. In my 1977 K10 Suburban I installed the Doug Nash Engineers kit that was a full replacement shaft. In my 1979 K30 I used a SAE Engineering kit. it was a bit heavier than the Doug Nash kit. The SAE even had...

1988 Scottsdale 2 wheel drive ... I have 5 lug 15x8 rally wheel .. what tire looks the best

You caught that too. The only way a 1988 2 door squarebody pickup could be purchased it had to be a V30 dually. No other 2 door squarebody pickup combination from the factory.
