    Exhaust pipe bracket

I used these hangers from Summit if you’re willing to weld, I couldn’t find any good pictures of how the rear mounts are bolted up.

    Fusible link?

That’s called a rag joint. My guess is you shorted a wire to the steering column… The current flowed down the column to the steering box to find ground. Not sure if the rag joint is steel belted but the current passed across it or through it and burnt it up until the fusible link blew. If the...

    Fusible link?

Yes the junction block just to the left of the brake booster should have a fusible link attached to it (IIRC there’s two fusible links there, and another hooked to the starter) As for the fire I’m not sure I understand exactly what burned, how’s about a picture. If you dropped the column and...

    87 v-1500 wheels

IIRC late model 6 lug stuff won’t fit square body 6 lug hubs. All of the GMT-400 and newer bodies have really small center bore. The 8 lug stuff is hit or miss, and can sometimes be modified to fit. I’ve got a buddy with a late ‘70’s f-250 with GMT-800 factory wheels on it. They look pretty...

    Engine swap.

If you do pull the trigger on this one I’d recommend a Holley terminator pcm, they probably also make a plug and play harness for the engine. The ‘95 4L60e is basically an electronically controlled 700R4, they’re decent enough but require a TCM (or PCM) to run them. The Holley terminator max...

Driveshaft length for stock k15 short bed

Just wait until you have it… a tape measure doesn’t lie. Also I’ll add a local driveline shop will most likely serve you better than ordering replacements on the interwebs. Does it not have any driveshafts? Often times a great savings can be had by re-using the slip yoke and tube yoke. Also...

    New clapped out ‘87 350

I priced out machine work last year, for boring, line hone, deck, and balanced crank was about $1100 without parts… I ended up buying someone else’s Vortec SBC project that was unassembled for $700, came with machined block, pistons, rods, crank, and bearings. $700 was without heads and took a...

Vacuum hose routing for brake booster

Did you already return your original as a core? If not measure the rods and compare. ETA: IIRC the brake lamp switch should be adjustable by threading it further into its bracket. Also, the tab that makes contact with the brake lamp switch has to be removed to disconnect the brake booster...

That should probably be a fusible link right there

    Traction Aid for 77 K10

Straw bails in the bed…. Not overly heavy when dry but hold a lot of water after storms. And chains like @Turbo4whl said

    Brake booster bolts

Actually, I think those bolts were pressed in like studs with skinny heads on them between the firewall and the brace. I looked for a picture but the only one I have is showing that I sealed up that gap. It might be possible to drill them out and feed bolts through from inside the cowl.

    Plastic or metal fuel lines?

I went with Earl’s Vapor Guard EFI rated rubber lines and the Earls clamps for my EFI conversion. I bought specific connectors that hook to my frame mounted fuel filter and to adapt to the inlet on my engine. Earl’s makes a bazillion different fittings in straight and various angles. ETA: I...

NEW PORT ENGINEERING. Wiper motors (new) anyone bought this yet? Pic inside

I think the issue with the factory switches is the factory speed and delay module. Newport uses their own switches with the speed, dwell, and squirt switch built in. The switch itself is pretty ugly and large, but the lever looks similar to stock. Instead of sliding left-right like the stock...

    Prepping Plastic for Paint

This has been my experience ^^^ I’m always a fan of epoxy sealer on just about everything since it seems to adhere well to so many substrates and subsequent coats (color etc.) stick to it good too

NEW PORT ENGINEERING. Wiper motors (new) anyone bought this yet? Pic inside

Yup… replied to your other thread a moment ago. This system has a much nicer switch assembly than the Newport but was back ordered and twice the cost of the Newport when I bought

Wiper washer motor replacement. Who you buying from?

I went with Newport engineering but it doesn’t have the washer pump like you want. I opted for a tank mounted pump and washer bottle from a newer truck. Wiper motor has multiple speed, multiple dwell, and automatic park.

    lift kit identification?

Honestly Sir, if you’re gonna do links, wontons, and coilovers in a year just leave it alone until then and just enjoy it riding like a freight car for the time being. If it has 35’s already I’d take a look at the frame where the steering box mounts for cracks, ORD sells a nice patch kit with...

What U-bolts are you guys buying?

I’ve noticed the custom u bolts and hardware from spring shops seem to be heavier duty and better quality than parts house store stuff

    Ball Joints Too Tight

I chain the axle housing to a floor jack and use it to put pressure on the lower joint when needed. It helps the tapered studs get seated, and is really helpful when the studs want to rotate during the torquing process. If you’re building a daily I’d recommend driving down a washboarded dirt...

    GMC Grill

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the grill hunt! I purchased the AMD repop for my build, looks like it is someone else’s product but I trust AMD wouldn’t market junk. It looks great! This is my third one in the life of the truck, when I bought the first 2 replacements from the dealer...

    bow tie for c10…

Have the bow tie that fits your grill painted to match your theme. In my opinion if you try to just stick one from another year on there it will look like a cheap knockoff. Use the one that fits right.

Front end grinding when hard accelerating

That’s the u-joint, the centering ball grease fitting is similar to this one. It’s usually buried way up in the center of the double cardan joint

Front end grinding when hard accelerating

Centering ball is inside of a double cardan joint, they are often overlooked when greasing. Many of them are greased using a needle and the zero is recessed in the assembly. Was the noise there before the lift and before the transfer case drop? That’s possible, how did you tighten them?
