Proportioning valve vs. load sensing valve

I recommend against removing it. It may change a hard braking into a potential head on collision before you have time to react. From past experience with CRX I recall that removing proportioning valve was an easy "fix" to get the rear brakes to work more and to pass annual tech inspection with...

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

Sounds like a similar issue to mine: I've replaced door strikers after no success with a PEX pipe (couldn't find a right size pipe in Europe), but they still closed hard. I've readjusted strikers so they close soft but now doors does not sit flush when closed, especially in bottom edge I have...

Adding a headrest to a bench seat

I'm currently using an addon headrest like I've shown above and I'm looking to move to actual integrated headrests, possibly swapping a whole bench seat if I find one in color. I never seen GMT400 front bench in person, they seem quite low back. Can somebody advise if the headrest is on actual...

    Diesel heater installation

CO detector is a must with these heaters. Also they need an inspection before installation, I've seen loose glow plugs in models submitted to YouTubers by manufacture for review, faulty castings, damaged gaskets. The muffler is a complete joke, it has massive gaps near the outlets and even the...

    Diesel heater installation

That would mean that exhaust pipe, inlet and a diesel fuel line would hang from the side of the sheetmetal panel. I don't want to lose my window either :) Those HCalory / Vevor heaters all seem almost identical, they are copies of some Webasto or Eberspacher. I was considering that option, but...

    Diesel heater installation

The heater has arrived and I found out that it will fit under the front bench seat - There is like a depression in floor on both sides of the driveshaft tunnel that is large enough to make it fit. This will allow me to install it the way it is intended: With that oval mounting plate bolted to...

    Diesel heater installation

These vents look like a kind you put on the side of the vehicle, I want to put the holes under the car, in the bottom part of the fender, so it's not visible at all. It's especially important for me as Podmiejski is officially a historic vehicle, so I don't want to modify it's looks too much...

    Diesel heater installation

Good point :) Was writing from a phone away from the car. Still not by my car, but I can share some pictures for general idea what I'm talking about: The heater looks like this, size of the heater itself is 34*11*11 cm/13.4*4.3*4.3 inch It sucks air from one side, blows hot air from the...

    Diesel heater installation

I'm planning on installing a diesel heater in my Burb, that kind that looks like a dry Webasto, but made out of chinesium. The idea is to add heating in the rear for camping. These kind of heaters are meant to be installed inside, on a mounting plate where just the intake exhaust and a fuel...

how fast is your power window?

With the power windows so slow in our trucks a solution may be to use a step up converter in a circuit for power windows. Having a converter by the motor that takes whatever is reaching it and outputting a steady 14 - 15 V would make a window regulator substantially faster. I used a lab power...

how fast is your power window?

Slower than in modern cars, but not terribly slow. Driver side window is faster, passenger window is slower, will get a relay mod soon. All windows got noticeably faster after proper greasing of mechanism. My rear windows were terribly slow and they got a relay mod that solved the issue.

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Won't work, at least in Poland: A handheld jammer became a standard equipment for car thieves these days. Such devices are cheap and ensure that GPS can't fix and any bidirectional communication, e.g. GSM or Bluetooth is broken. Exactly, it all depends on how determined they are. If there is...

Our 95 octane is about the same as US 91 octane. Since January it is almost exclusively E10, previously it was E5. We also have 98 available which Google says it's about US 93 and this fuel stayed at E5 levels of ethanol.

I believe that plastic collar should have four clips, so one f them may be broken off.

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

E-brake related theft detterent won't work. If you can do a standing burnout without a line locks, that is applying rear brakes hydraulically then you could for sure overpower e-brake. Yes, it will overheat the brakes in no time. Thief will not care, rear brakes would simply stop working. With...

Bought an '87 long bed on Bring a Trailer a few days ago

Welcome :) Beautiful truck! Low mileage vehicles, especially trucks always puzzle me, how did it happen that someone bought it and almost doesn't use it?

Confirmed, it was a knock sensor. Both old and new ones read 100 kOhm, but when tested with multimeter on AC volt range the old one generated just millivolts when mounted in a vice and knocking vice with a hammer, the new one spikes above 1 V in same conditions. Old one has some damage on the...

    How to flash high beams?

Got the 1994 Fleetwood dimmer switch installed, it wasn't as plug-and-play as it is in that guide for a Cutlass, but I got it working. The switch itself looks almost identical, connector has additional pin for 12V power, the difference is in the mounting bracket: It has same bolt pattern, but...

Let's see those 4x4 Squares On Dirt!

My favourite shortcut by the rail tracks was recently obliterated by construction equipment and rainy weather, but that was nothing for the Burb! Kinda reminds me of photos of that russian highway from pre-meme era of internet!

Oh I thought that's the recommended method for a high pressure hot flushing the system :D I think if I create a a bit of vacuum in the system, by simply parking it hot and pinching the expansion tank hose so it cannot such the coolant back into system then nothing would even come out through...

    700R4 Information Thread

We can assume that transmission is original to the vehicle, the video: It doesn't short shift to 3 or 4th gear. It'slike this: 1-2 at 1600 rpm, with like two steps resulting in a drop to 1000 rpm. It sounds like lugging a bit. 2-3 at 2000 rpm meaning that it stays quite long in 2nd 3-4 also...
