    Flywheel tooth count

Yes, but it will still tell the tale. I see the offset style starter is installed, so if the flexplate is able to engage the starter (even poorly) then it is the proper 168 tooth flexplate. A 153 tooth flexplate wouldn't even be in the same neighborhood.

That, and the rear straps hooked to the safety chain loops of the receiver hitch. Those things will tear surprisingly easy, especially when the suspension is still able to cycle over a big bump in the road.

    Welding on Strut housings

It's actually been done many times. AWD Pontiac 6000's come to mind. The rear struts are not available and you have to make due with something else, which means removing the spring perches from the original struts and welding them onto the new ones. The key is keeping the heat down. Imho, it's...

    Dome light upgrade

Lately I've just been switching out the standard bulbs with direct replacement LED bulbs. Not so much for a lighting improvement, but mostly to reduce the battery drain when the interior lights are on. I have a habit of pulling up to the shop or into a buddy's place, getting out and simply...

Lol, it probably isn't clogged up, but it's very easy to check.

What have you done to your square lately??

My small block 4x4's have never bested 11mpg (including one with overdrive) and my '78 C20 454 Burb, also with 3.73's has never done better than 10.5 mpg. I'm not sure why the '86 C20 got so much better highway mpg.

A flat screwdriver and a vacuum cleaner works well. The ones I've dealt with had the hard, chunky type crud usually.

If the oil drain back holes in the heads are clogged with sludge or burned oil crud, the oil can collect around the valves and exaggerate a leaky valve seal issue.

Olds Bravada, GMC Jimmy, Chevy Blazer rear ends

I won't say that info is wrong, but I will say that is news to me. From what I recall, the pickups never got rear discs (although an axle swap is not uncommon). A buddy of mine even had a couple of the later ones. The 8.5 and the 8.6 are the same basic axle, I believe it's just the bearings that...

What have you done to your square lately??

I used to have an '86 C20 Burb with 454/th400/3.73 14bff and it had no trouble getting 13 mpg on the interstate at 75mph. All the others though... yeah, 10.5-11 mpg max.

Olds Bravada, GMC Jimmy, Chevy Blazer rear ends

Oh yeah, and since it has discs, it could be three different widths (2wd/4x4/ZR2) so you may want to verify what you have will fit or not. Id say there's a good chance that it will.

Olds Bravada, GMC Jimmy, Chevy Blazer rear ends

The only S10's to get the 8.6 were the ZR2 models and they had drum brakes. ZR2 Blazers got them too, and so did 5-speed Blazers, but they got disc brakes too.

Major rust repair 91 burban 1500

Yeah, the arm rests clearing was my concern. I like having them because they are usually what I use the most when getting the seat in and out of the truck. Rear passengers of course lean on them too, but maybe I shouldn't be so concerned with that.

Ok, another serious question now... Where do you buy the Mobile 1 15w50? I have not noticed it in any of my local stores. But I also hadn't looked for it because I didn't know it existed.

Apparently the vapor from a high pressure leak can be flammable, but other than that, it's hard to make it burn. Putting hydraulic oil on a bonfire is almost like putting water on it.

I posted a mechanical question, but gave ZERO info about the application, to poke at one member (all in fun) and also misspelled "axle" to poke at another member. Again all in fun. But my joke thread still turned out to produce useful info from members here, which is a good example of why this...

    Sway bar for lifted c10

I'm thinking a front bar will do wonders, even if it's just a stock C10 bar. You've increased the center of gravity by a large amount and that will have a big effect on the handling with a stock or near stock spring rate. One reason I suggested an aftermarket front bar though is because you can...
