What have you done to your square lately??

You will need to pull the door panel back off, with the window lowered down all the way. Then remove the bolt that holds the lower rear window track in place. Then you can slide the glass rearward enough to get it wiggled back into the felt on the front track. Then reinstall the rearward track...

3 on the tree to sm465 conversion questions

Correct. Cut the opening so that there is still a 3/4" to 1" flange to attach the new trans hump. You can simply use self tappers, or drill larger holes in the base flange and use threaded j-clips, or install nutserts in the base flange for bolts to thread into. Having the removable cover is...

What is this on the sm465?

The figure 8 205 was used through '84, in (civilian) 1-tons. Lighter trucks got the more universal, round pattern setup (with 208) starting in '81. Everything had the flat style crossmember and "tall" adapters through '84. In '85, everything got "short" style, round pattern adapters. Including...

Does 33x12.50R15 fit at the rear of a 2wd C10 with stock suspension, stock 8x15 wheels

33's will fit the rear without issue. The 32x11's should be fine up front as well. Years ago I had a 2wd K5 with the same size on 15x8" rims.

3 on the tree to sm465 conversion questions

2wd 465 uses the single mount, like all the other 2wd's. There's two basic GM styles... one has two bolts for the crossmember, while the other just uses one. The common aftermarket urethane mounts, like Energy Suspension are designed to replace both styles.

3 on the tree to sm465 conversion questions

You may need a 2wd "high hump" bolt-in trans tunnel. Your 3/tree cab should have the low hump trans tunnel that was also used with automatics. You can use the same crossmember, but it may get used with another set of holes in the frame.

    UPGRADE BRAKES on a 79 K25

I believe there are a couple options for "direct replacement" aftermarket, dual piston calipers. Wilwood and another company too I think. There are oodles of different pad compounds available from various companies. Front/rear bias can be adjusted with an inline valve, if needed.

What have you done to your square lately??

On my personal vehicles, I've never had issues with corrosion or loosening. Now, I do tend to use the bolt and jamb nut method. The biggest reason is to easily add circuits and also very easy to hook up a battery charger. An added side benefit is being able to tighten them down without any...

What have you done to your square lately??

What is everyone's hatred for side terminal batteries? I've owned some 60 vehicles, most of them with side terminals. No gripes here at all.

The original GM CTS's didn't go bad a lot. Just on occasion. The replacements these days tend to suck.

    Hot Rod Drag tour 2024

I was just watching some Day 1 coverage and noticed this guy with an S10. A buddy of mine used to own that S10, he had bought it from a regular customer of ours. I remember working on it 15+ years ago, lol. I believe that was soon after leaving National Trails. He was talking about how it was...

Just picked up an LT4 swapped '86 C10

Howdy from Ohio! The LT4 swap is cool! That's not something that's common anymore at all. When I read the title, I assumed it was going to be a modern LT4 lol.

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Yep, I've had some that are siped too and it definitely does make a difference. The best truck tires I've ever had in the snow was a set of off-brand "Widetrac" M/T's, and they weren't even siped. I've always wondered what siping them would do for them, but I'll never find out since they have...

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Agreed, but I'm also an M/T type of tire guy myself. I know many people swear that an A/T type tire is better in snowy conditions, but for my driving style, I've had much better experience with more aggressive tires.

    Dana 44 front axle issues

I've never noticed that the added weight hurts the handling and ride quality at all. I could see it making a difference on a truck with links and coils, but not our leaf spring trucks. I currently have two operational trucks with a D60 in the front, they both drive just as well as trucks I've...

    TBI timing help…

Two questions... the first one is really dumb, so please forgive me: Are you for sure putting the timing light on cyl 1, rather than cyl 2? Cylinder #1 is left bank (driver side) What does the injectors' spray pattern look like when it's running? Is it a nice, fine, cone pattern?

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

So I really can't tell in the picture, is it actually a pair of tubes with a little gap, or are they joined in the middle? Does the car still have the black plastic air dam on the underside of the radiator support? And all the plastic ducting is still between the bumper and radiator? The '87+...

    Filling small holes without welding

If the holes are actually only 1/8 or 3/16-ish in size, it's pretty easy to weld those up. It was mentioned earlier, the possibility of using fiberglass body filler, along with dimpling the steel down. Imho, it's the next best thing to welding. Simply grind the metal a bit, ding it down...
