I have my '87 K5 at the bodyshop. He has recently restored two 73-75 blazers and he showed me a panel at the rear of the back inner wheel wells. They bold to the very back of the wheel wells and hang down like a splash guard. My blazer is missing these panels. It has the holes for them. In looking at other blazers online, it looks like other ones of my year didn't have this panel, but it's hard to tell.

Does anyone know if these trucks came with this panel, or if they stopped putting it in in later years?

Both. That particular panel would come and go.

Those kind of things get added to address a specific issue and then, during periods of austerity, get cut as a cost reduction measure.

There's no hard set year or breakout of them. As Keith said, they kinda just came and went through the years depending on supply/budget cuts/budget additions. Some trucks got them, some didn't. If you wanna put them on, throw them on. If not, leave 'em off. We've bought so many of these trucks and some have them, some don't, even within the same model year.

I've been unable to find a vendor the reproduces them. I find things that look similar, but then realized they're the "back" of the front wheel houses.

Interested to see a photo or illustration of these splash shields.
This is what they look like if that is the splash shield being talked about:

My friend's 75 K5 has them, My 76 C10 had them (rotted off), My 79 didn't have them, and the 85 I parted didn't have them either.

My 74 C20 has them, my 79 K5 doesn't. A friends 81 C10 doesn't.

I know that LS Fab makes them (and lots of other items), but half the point of my old truck is building this kind of things myself.

1973-80

I see them on trucks far more. I added a wrecking yard set to my '83.

GM stopped using them after 1980. Cost cutting measure I am sure....

Man - how did we get to a point where 3 shades of silver grey and a decal set are the new car "options" v. the 27 different colours, 8 engine option packages on 5 different trim levels that it took to sell a car in the 70's - all in the name of "progress"? - dont get me started ...
